Rudy and the Press Corp - 12:08 PM
Rudy is one of our families favorite sports movies. It is a movie about the dream of Rudy Ruettiger who wanted to play football at the University of Notre Dame.
One of my favorite scenes is when Rudy had been told he would be able to dress for one of the games his Sr. Year by Notre Dame Head Coach, Ara Parseghian, only Ara Parseghian is no longer head coach of Notre Dame and is replaced by Coach Dan Devine. It becomes apparent that Coach Devine is not going to let Rudy dress for one home game. The Sr’s one by one … (31 comments)

Cedar City's Advantageous Lifestyle.................. - 04:51 PM
Cedar City, Not just a beautiful city, but a great lifestyle as well. Here in Cedar City, Utah, we live in one of the most beautiful areas of the United States, we are the gateway to several National Parks and Monuments.

We are nestled against the mountains and enjoy each of the four seasons.

We also enjoy great opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with walking and hiking trails, ATV trails.

The Brian Head Ski Resort isn't far, and we also enjoy a golf course that is set against the red hill for a dramatic and beautiful … (7 comments)

Foto Friday...Trails End............. - 05:43 PM
This is a lonely grave located in Notom, Wayne County, Utah.  It is just east of Capitol Reef National Park.  It is a beautiful setting to have the end of the trail.  This is the reason that I wanted to share it with you all here on the 'Rain!

Foto Friday...More Scenic Southern Utah - 06:01 PM
This is another photo of one of my favorite places on this earth.  It is taken at the entrance to Capitol Gorge in Capitol Reef National Park.  This is a series of photographs intended to illustrate why we do love living in Southern Utah.  It is honestly, one of the most diversely beautiful areas that I have ever been to.  Enjoy!

More Foto Friday... The Writing's on the Wall - 06:11 PM
This is another photo taken in Capitol Gorge which is in Capitol Reef National Park.  There is a section where the old road used to pass through Capitol Gorge (before US Hwy 24 was completed farther north), where many of the early residents of the area scratched into the rock wall.  The ones that interested me the most are the WLC (the C is pretty faint), they were scratched there by my late father.
As a kid, I wondered why he would never take me down to look at this part of the Park.  I guess that as he got … (4 comments)

Have a Great Weekend and other Friday thoughts...... - 06:45 PM
I could go on and on putting photos of the area on here, but Darcy said that I should stop, that I should save some of these other photos for later.  As usual, she is probably correct.  I don't want to inundate you with photos.  I will say this, we have seen a huge increase in Real Estate activity this week.  We are hoping that each of you enjoy the photos that we have posted.
We also hope that you all have a Great Weekend, and may you all see an increase in business in Real Estate activity!  I have … (1 comments)

The Secret to Knowing The Sales Price a Short Sale Bank Will Approve - 09:09 AM
Short sale buyer's agents in Sacramento are wising up and asking more questions upfront about my listings before showing them to a buyer, but I still get the goofy questions about homes that are new to the market such as: Is this short sale approved by the bank? Some banks such as Wachovia and Wells Fargo are putting systems in place to preapprove the sales price but most banks do not. It takes an offer from a qualified buyer to get a response.
I've had only one bank this year tell me that the price on my Sacramento short sale wasn't … (33 comments)

REFERRAL - SAFETY HARBOR AREA, FLORIDA - 12:18 PM
I have a seller/buyer who wants a CMA done on his townhouse for value purposes and then to sell in the Safety Harbor Area.  He also wants to look at 3 bedroom townhouse units in the surorunding area.
Reason for selling:  He shares a garage with another owner and the man isn't nice.
My client:  Retired Chicago School Teacher - likes reponses, interactions, knowledge of the area.  He will only work with females.  Win him over and you have a friend for life!
Please contact me ASAP at 773.564.4268 here in Chicago.
John will be coming down to Florida this Tuesday.

I sent a referral packing - 02:05 PM
I had a seller here in Chicago that wants to sell his townhouse and buy another townhouse in the Clearwater, Florida area.  He is near Safety Harbor Area.  Anyway, I spent roughly 6 hours trying to find a female realtor (his request) that picks up their phone, that sells more then one house a year and this would have been an easy but do you think I could find someone?  I posted, I called some major companies .... but to no avail.
So, he is heading down there in two days and I gave him the list of the companies that … (7 comments)

Before Active Rain & Now II - Wow, what a journey for me and others - 08:16 AM
In the right frame of mind, most people would only participate in a contest once. After all, trying to find time to do the first one is challenging in itself. As I continue to read stories of how people lived their lives before Active Rain & now, I smile only to remember what was I like just 3 years ago.

I started in this business with no intentions of becoming a real estate agent. So, my first few years, I did not do marketing and I served friends as clients. It worked well until something happened to me in … (14 comments)

September 2009 Southern Maine Real Estate Report - 12:54 PM
As the fall foliage comes to an end here in the great state of Maine, the residential real estate markets in Southern Maine continue to show strong resilience and stability.  Prices were down a bit more year over year for the 4 counties followed including the housing market of Cumberland county but transaction volume was markedly up year over year for 3 out of the 4 counties.  Inventories and the days on market median both decreased.

"Social Media Edge" Radio Archives - By Popular Demand! - 07:49 PM
Every week or two, I get a handful of requests regarding the archives for our BlogTalkRadio show, Social Media Edge.  Sometimes these requests are via email, and other times I get quick notes on Twitter or Facebook asking about a particular show that we had before.
In an effort to make it easier to find all of our shows in one place, I had written a post about this a few months ago.  Since then, I got too busy to keep that post updated properly, so I would like to publicly thank Mike Mueller, who is a regular part of our … (0 comments)

Top Ten Social Media Edge Episodes (Both Live and Archived) - Just for You! - 09:52 PM

I thought it would be an interesting exercise to see which of our Social Media Edge episodes have attracted the most attention.  We have had 46 shows to date.

I'm not sure which one is a more interesting measure of success - "live" listeners or archive listens.  Hence, I have included both of them here.  All of the top five in the live category garnered over 100 listeners during the recording.  All of the top archived shows have received over 600 listens.  It's exciting to see the audience grow after the recorded programs are available.  :)

Why I Love Being a Dad (VIDEO proof) - 10:34 PM
If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time, you probably already know that I truly love my kids.  Here's a quick and unedited video that I took tonight of our 3-year-old (Abby) and our 6-month old (Jenny).  Abby would probably kiss and hug Jenny all day if we allowed it.  In fact, my wife calls it "aggressive cuddling".  I really like that term.  I hope you enjoy this one.  I play the part of the camera man/soon-to-be-jungle gym.

5 Signs You Might Be Spending Too Much Time with Social Media - 12:04 PM
(Disclaimer: I have no understanding as regards the topic I'm writing about?) Oh sure, I'm in charge of a real estate blog, a couple of Twitter sites (@blogboy2 and @sugarpinerealty) and a Facebook page (HERE) (not counting my personal life). And, of course, I don't have to hardly do anything and readers, followers and friends just automatically appear like magic~thousands and thousands of them. Doesn't it work that way for you? All kidding aside, if you want to enjoy the many benefits of social media it necessarily requires a reasonable investment of time and energy, thought and engagement. Right? And like … (5 comments)
