Happy New Year to all! - 03:18 PM
I hope everyone has a very special year ahead!  I hope new home buyers get to take advantage of the tsx credit.  It is such a great opportunity.  I am looking forward to listing some new properties soon.
I am also planning on doing more staging with my partner Carol Ann Doucette.  It really helps set your home apart from the competition and can be accomplished reasonably--usually using your furnishings.  It can be as simple as rearranging furniture to create more space.  I offer a free consultation with every listing.
If you are travelling tonight, drive carefully and don't forget the … (2 comments)

IS your homes for sale inventory growing or shrinking, or exploding/ - 10:02 AM
Here in the phoenix,,scottsdale , glendale , and mesa  areas  of the greater phoenix arizona market , our inventory is ready to explode ,  unfortunately in the wrong way  ,  homes   that have been on the market will soon have a ton of new shadow  inventory, the ones  that banks have slowly  let back onto the market place in order  not to start a housing   meltdown. Lets  not forget the  thousands of homeowners buried  in  overvalued  home mortgages    waiting to unload there homes  this spring as a last ditch effort to get out of  bondage  with  debts  .Some reality does break … (0 comments)

Goodbye 2009! Hello 2010!!! - 12:16 PM
2009 has been an eventful year for my family and I and I am sure it held it's own trials and tribulations, surprises and fond memories for each and every one of you. It is also the end of the decade, and I can't help remembering the way the world looked forward, warily, as we came closer to the end of 1999, towards the Y2K ... That was a tempest in a teapot.  A lot of us had prepared for catastrophe and we all breathed a collective sigh of relief as the New Year came and passed, uneventfully, in Australia.  I … (13 comments)

Whether You are Buying In Gettysburg Pa or Petersburg Va the Tips Apply - 02:24 PM
Whether You are Buying In Gettysburg Pa or Petersburg Va the Tips ApplyBeing a first time home buyer is a daunting enough task, add unscroupulous builders, sellers, agents or any combination of the previous and it could cost you big time. I have put together a list of first time home buyer tips to maybe keep someone from being taken. In no specific order;        Many first time home buyers make the mistake of believing that since the home they are purchasing is new they don't need an inspection. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you feel that an inspection … (1 comments)

Last Sunrise of 2009 - What Does it Say to You? - 10:20 AM

Everyone interprets clouds their own way. Some will see these as ominous, some as gold-lined. What do you think the clouds say? I took this very early this morning, if you look you can see that the outside lights and Christmas decorations are still on at some homes. It's an unusual sky for this area and I'm not sure what it means but it's a gorgeous day so far! Feel free to interpret them your way.

A Look Ahead - 12:42 PM
A Look Ahead
The new CORE class required in Washington State is approved for 010-2011 and we are waiting for the approval of the Transitions course which all current licensees in Washington will have to take in the next renewal period.  This last 18 months has seen an incredible number of challenges and changes within our state statute that will affect the agents.  The Transitions course will cover those changes.  While the learning curve will be steep as the new laws are put into affect most agents will "roll" with it and absorb it as they go along.
There have been … (0 comments)

The Naughties Weren't Nice - 08:09 PM
When you review the last decade there seems little to cheer about.  Little did we know that those Ought's or Naught's, if you will, would represent the interest rate on the money we lend the government or have in our bank accounts by decade's end.  It was even worse for others as it represents all they are left with after this terrible recession ( it's OK to call it a depression).
Speaking of depression, I don't think I cried more in any decade, if you exclude my first year/partial decade on this earth.  Unknown amount of lives lost and personal misery … (10 comments)

Subterranean Termites in General - 09:07 AM
Termites

If you have termites you very probably have subterranean termites or drywood termites. In the south you could have formosen termites This blog will  discuss subterranean termites.
Subterranean termites live in underground colonies (nests), that may be 5 to 10 feet below the surface. They're only about 1/8 inch long yet, the workers forage hundreds of feet, traveling underground, surfacing periodically, searching for food (wood) to feed the colony. If they find the wood your house is built of they can do a lot of damage.
Detection Subterranean termites MUST have constant access to water. If … (2 comments)

Why I Love Being a Realtor - 11:40 AM
Of all the places to visit over Christmas, I went home to Michigan.  No sandy  beaches, no glorious historical architecture, and worst of all, no optimism.  Ok, a little optimism.
I was asked again and again by wave after wave of relatives and friends, "Must be tough in real estate these days, eh?"
Well, maybe it is, and maybe it isn't.  That's not really the point.  The point is that I have had so much fun this year as a Realtor, that I can't imagine doing anything else...and I get paid for it!
I told those waves of disbelieving relatives that … (5 comments)

Happy, Safe, Healthy New Year to All - 07:47 AM

Tonight is New Year's Eve, and while we are all thinking of celebrating with friends and family, I can't help but think of ways to help everyone be safe on the roads tonight.
You've heard it before - don't drink and drive.  I'll repeat just so it's fresh in all our minds - don't drink and drive.  If you want to drink, please have a designated driver get you home safely.  Or better yet, stay where you are and enjoy breakfast with your friends and family.
I wish you all a happy, safe, healthy New Year.  May 2010 be the … (3 comments)

Small Projects, Big Bang - 09:23 AM
I recently read this article in Realtor Magazine and thought I'd share.  There are some great cost-saving tips here for remodeling.
Small Projects, Big BangJudicious home remodeling is still worth the investment, according to Remodeling magazine's annual "Cost vs. Value Report." By G.M. Filisko
Uncertainty and restraint are the order of the day in this economy, and that sense of caution is reflected in home owners' return on their investment in remodeling projects, according to REALTORS® in 80 metropolitan markets surveyed by Remodeling magazine for this year's Cost vs. Value Report.
The majority of the 10 remodeling projects with the … (1 comments)
