Home Buyer Tax Credit gets an upgrade
In an effort to boost the economy and jumpstart real estate sales, Congress recently enacted a bigger and better tax credit of up to $8,000 for qualified first-time home buyers purchasing a principal residence on or after Jan. 1, 2009 and before Dec. 1, 2009.
 This tax credit is $500 higher than the home buying incentive that was included in the legislation passed last summer and it does not have to be repaid.

Unfortunately, the number of people who owe more than their house is worth is increasing in Metro Detroit. If you are staying in your house, you don't have a pressing issue, though the new housing bill that is coming out on March 4th may provide you with some relief. More on that later when the details come out.

THE COMMENT IN THE AGENT'S REMARKS BELOW are an example of why many Short Sales will never sell.  I wonder if the listing agent has advised the seller of the likelihood that the home will not sell by Short Sale and will most likely go to foreclosure.

Recently, a client called me and asked if I could do an inspection over 3 hours away in Eastern Washington State.  Some will think that this is an usual request.  Actually, I have done many inspections in Wenatchee, Yakima, the Tri Cities, etc.  Usually the client's are relocating and are uncomfortable with the home inspectors available on the "East Side", and I have even done inspections when the client purchasing the home had an inspection that they were unhappy with so before they purchase the home they call in the "Special Unit".  This inspection in Eastern Washington was an example … (0 comments)

Further Things the "Home Inspector" Missed.... - 03:50 PM

As discussed in my last post, I did the second inspection on a house in less than a week.  The client was very unhappy with the first inspection.  To be honest, I didn't really expect to find many different things than the original home inspector found, but I knew that the client would like my report better (the original one was hand written, etc.). 
Well, as noted in the last post, I was wrong: I did find many problems that were in the "light of day" that the other inspector didn't find.
