Good Times Bad Times..... Here Comes The Sun - 09:24 PM
Of late, I've been reading a lot of Greg Nino's blog. I scour the dashboard every day to read something matter of fact, straightforward and no B.S. about it. That's him. I get a chuckle and I actually have been using his posts for some sort of entertainment.  I gotta admit, he's pretty funny.
After reading his post yesterday Not Another "Pat Myself" On The Back Blog...  I chuckled. We read all about the milestones, the kazillion closed transactions, the 'buyers backed out', the 'I fired the sellers', the 'Another ActiveRain Closing' and so forth but rarely see the other side. The … (28 comments)

Is Home Inspector the right name? - 03:50 PM
I have been performing various types of property inspections since 1994 and I have always wondered if the name Home Inspector really was the correct name for my profession?  Home inspections comprise about 50% of my business, the rest are various type of related inspections from bank to commercial types of inspections.
I have contemplated with changing what I call myself, some of the following are some names I have been contemplating:
Property Consultant; well it sounds good but what does it say that I do?
Construction Consultant;  same issue, but it does define the type of work I'm doing.  But, … (7 comments)

Richmond KY - Kentucky Tornado Takes It's Toll on Madison County - 11:01 PM
This past week in Richmond KY has been a crazy one!
It seemed that Madison County would all wash away from rain every day.
The forecast was rain, rain and cloudy with possible rain.
My yard had started to look like a jungle because it didn't stop raining long enough for the yard guy to cut it.
After being swamped by the rain and work all week, I sort of enjoyed the rain on Friday until the electric went off and the Direct TV went out too.
As soon as that happened, I heard the tornado warning siren go off.

Boulder Breaks World Record - 10:35 PM
Boulder did it! Just this last Saturday, Boulder Colorado broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest bike bell ensemble of all time. My two daughters and I attended and it was hard not to tear up as this was a charity event for a popular teacher in our area who is going through stage III cancer. As we approached the New Vista high school field, I was astonished by the turnout. More than 690 people were there laughing, crying, taking photos, registering, donating money, and buying bike bells. Motivational Monday - Mark Moves Me - 07:20 AM
Quote from Mark Twain on parenting - thought it was appropriate for Mother's Day....  "My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it." My kids are still young - 7 and 10 - on frustrating days, I recall my dad's words of wisdom "Don't wish it away" and my father-in-law's words "Little kids, little problems. Big kids, big problems."
So with all 3 quotes combined, I am left with one thought - enjoy the children, it goes by quickly. Don't sweat the small stuff. Enjoy watching them make their own ways and hope they … (8 comments)

Growth Leader, Week Four - 05:46 PM
Three more prospects registered on my site this past week, one with contact information. I still have not connected with anyone by phone yet, but I am having an email conversation with one of them, which looks like it might turn into something towards the first of the summer.
I contacted one of the account managers regarding my activity and she confirmed that my activity was actually higher than expected, averaging about 40 visitors a week.
I think Growth Leader has a lot of potential because it is bringing in visitors to my site, but getting them to leave contact information … (15 comments)

Renter, house sitter, and stager all rolled into one - 07:59 PM
If you are very mobile, have tasteful furniture, are adept at taking care of a house, both inside and outside, and have always dreamed of living in a high-end home (mostly million-dollar homes), this just might be your opportunity.
Quality First Home Marketing, operated by Mary Heineke, rents vacant homes at a discount. The caveat is that the renters must stage the home so that it looks lived in but must also maintain the home -- inside and outside -- in "show-ready" condition for buyers and agents.
Renters must have the ability to furnish the home with tasteful furnishings and live … (18 comments)

Short Sale or Loan Modification? - 12:53 PM
Should You Short Sale Your Home or Complete a Loan Modification?
The market is just beginning to stabilize but short sales and foreclosures will be with us for a couple more years.  The options for many distressed home owners are the following:

(1) Do a loan modification with subject lender.
(2) Complete a short sale of mortgage.
(3) Just walk away mortgage obligation altogether.
Obviously, the loan modification is the best choice for most people.  The government is pushing banks to offer loan modification programs for home owners who are current on the mortgage payment but still in trouble … (0 comments)

Top 20 Real Estate Websites in April - Hitwise - 04:15 PM
I have posted the monthly Hitwise rankings for a few months prior, and it seems to be of great interest - so here are April's numbers.
I tried to categorize and color code the various site, to make it easier to interpret.  (For example, Hitwise considers Rental part of the Real Estate industry.)

In case you aren't familar, Hitwise is one of the services we find to the most reliable in terms of ranking popularity.
From a marketing perspective, you should be concerned with the yellow companies, those on which Realtors and buyers interact with each other.
From a Broker standpoint, … (18 comments)

Your supra Key might catch on fire - 02:08 PM
This is what I have received from our local ECAR . I have been notified though that I have one of the affected keys. That notice is listed below the ECAR notice.
GE Security, Supra's parent company, has identified a potential safety issue with a few of the ActiveKEYs. If your ActiveKEY is one of the affected keys, you will be notified by Supra with instructions on how your key will be replaced.
We strongly recommend that you DO NOT leave your ActiveKEY in your car for any length of time.  High temperatures are known to prevent the key from updating, … (5 comments)
