In August of 2007, I posted an article about this. I went back today and re-read it. It's funny how views change (even my own) over time, isn't it? At that time, we had only had a handful of the properties we manage go into default. We would "play it by ear" on whether or not to cancel with the owners.

The new age of the web is here, and though many still don’t have websites, blogs, Facebook, or Twitter accounts, they are still making it in this business just fine on referrals. But what about those of us that thrive on what the web have given us and know that in 15 years we too, can live only on our referrals?
For reader lovers everywhere, there are plenty of book stores, libraries and clubs to quench your thirst for the written word here in our mountains. Here's a little taste....
In real estate we often go off on tangents that become gospel but never pass the muster under a microscope. As far as I am concerned the latest in hype term in real estate is "Green!" First of all I am pro environment, and energy efficiency, but all the hype in our business about "green" controlling the market...well it is just hype. It is not so! All the post I read on "Green Homes" are obviously being written by those that do not sell homes. 
Think of yourself as carrying, wearing around a personal fourplex power body socket. And recall how even with the best of wiring, periodically something in your home will fire up to dim the lights during start up. In farm homes, sometimes it's the water pump, or the daughters plugging in curling irons at the same time. Or ever heard a generator on a job site that sounds suddenly burdened, laboring when the skill saw starts up?
