Why Friending People You Don't Know Is Not All That Crazy - 06:27 PM
I see both sides of an argument with "adding" people to your network. On Facebook with friending, followers on Twitter, Associates with blogging, Connections on LinkedIn, or Adds on MySpace. Think
Why Friending People You Don't Know Is Not All That Crazy.
Some have STRICT criteria if they don't know you, you are not IN. Others let the floodgates open and let anyone be a connection regardless.
But the REASON to maybe think of even adding those you don't know, with some limited qualification of WHO you want in your network is the theory of six degrees of separation. Meaning you … (86 comments)

Quote on Banksters - 02:25 AM
This post should be featured.  Excellent post and history lesson.  Somehow we have to find a way to break up the big banks.  Do we have the courage?
Via J. Philip Faranda (J. Philip LLC) Westchester County NY:
I read two quotes that resonated with me on the danger of banks if given too much deference and power.
I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale. The system of banking we have … (0 comments)

Walleye Hockey, Toledo, Ohio, get out and have some fun.
As a Realtor in the Toledo, Ohio area I love to draw people's attention to some of the really fun things to do here.
One of the things I love to do is watch  Toledo Walleye Hockey .  The Huntington Center is the new arena located in downtown Toledo.  Sometimes it is hard to keep up on all the team players and schedules and commentaries, however if you go the Walleye website it has an amazing amount of information.

Another great link has BCSN videos on several of the … (0 comments)

Radiant Barriers: A Solution in Search of a Problem - 10:32 AM
A well-insulated home doesn't need a radiant barrier

A radiant barrier is a shiny panel or flexible membrane used in construction. Although radiant barriers have no R-value, they can be used as part of a building assembly - for example, an assembly made up of a radiant barrier and an air space - to slow heat transfer.
The sale and distribution of radiant barriers has always attracted a disproportionate share of scam artists, many of whom promise impossible energy savings. The explanations made by these hucksters usually include multiple references to space vehicles and NASA. Having been swayed by this … (0 comments)

I would love to sit back smile and relax, but this is the time to build my business! - 02:54 AM

As many have you have been reading I’ve been working on a team and I now have an amazingly beautiful assistant. (My wife) I have also interviewed many buyers’ agents and we are getting everything together to have them join my team in the next couple weeks. But, the finale piece of the puzzle was where I was going to be doing all this.
Today after a couple weeks of interviews with new companies and even the thought of opening my own shop, I have decided to join forces with Knipe Realty where I really am going back to my … (13 comments)

Who do you cheer on when your team doesn’t make it to the World Series? - 09:08 PM

Hopefully by my logo, my signature and everything else I do online you have figured I’m a big baseball fan. Heck I even get my pets in to the cheering, but who do you cheer on when your favorite team doesn’t make it to the World Series?
In case you haven’t already figured it out by the picture below, I am a little bit of a Red Sox fan and seeing a ex-New York team make it bugs me just a little and then also seeing the Rangers make it leaves me wondering who the lesser of the two evils … (12 comments)

MLS Compensation - This, NOT This - 06:00 PM
More and more agents are getting into the short sale and foreclosure arena. It’s pretty hard not to include them in your portfolio in this market. Many of them have heard the horror stories of agents getting a “commissionectomy” by banks at the last minute.
Some agents are trying to mitigate their losses by “manipulating” the compensation in the MLS. Our MLS has one section for compensation, not two. You can put in any legitimate figure you want, with the caveat that your brokerage is going to be held to it at settlement. As the agent who showed the property, and … (9 comments)

So How Much Time Does it Take to be "All In" on the Rain? - 08:37 AM
How much time do you think it takes each day/week to be "All In" on Active Rain?I got to thinking about this lately because at night I like to "pop in to the Rain" before bed but find that my night of sleep is shortened dramatically. If I start out on the Rain first thing in the morning, I find myself dashing to the shower and late for my appointment.
So I started thinking...... How much time should I carve out to be "All In"?

1) I like to comment on at least ten posts a day. Do you think that can be done in an hour? That is … (115 comments)

What I "try" & Provide the CONSUMER Looking To Buy In Lake Arrowhead ~ A little of this... A little of that - 10:58 AM
Your Lake Arrowhead Realtor would like to share some local Lake Arrowhead Information with you.
When I first started blogging, it was all ABOUT THE POINTS. Really. Looking way back, I wasn't posting the "right stuff" that would be beneficial to the consumer because I DIDN'T know what the blogging world was really about, what it could do for me, and what I could do for the consumer.
I've "come a long way" since then. I'm NO blogging expert, but I have learned oddles here in The Rain since those early days. I've learned tons about technology. Learned loads about business. I've learned (and I think this is most … (2 comments)

The Best And Worst Trick Or Treat Halloween Houses To Visit Or Avoid Growing Up. - 11:39 AM
Memorable treats you got climbing up front steps, trying not to trip in a mask you could barely see out off, on to porches when the light came on and every one hollered trick or treat. Remember them? Anyone trying to throw a dryer than dust popcorn ball carbon dated to many years BC, or a bruised heavily small apple was a place I made a mental note to avoid next year trick or treating.
The older ladies, sisters named Chamberlain on the corner of Court and Franklin Avenue that made fresh donuts I never forgot stand out in my head. Those … (3 comments)
