Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra New Season gets underway - 04:05 PM
It was only 4 years ago that the unincorporated northeastern section of Fulton County fulfilled its wish of becoming the independent and incorporated city of Johns Creek, GA. We have seen explosive growth as our little City has blossomed to offer its citizens better services and an abundance of opportunity to experience the Arts. I am so excited that we are now entering our fourth season with our very own Symphony Orchestra! The season premiere opens October 16th with a special performance that will include "Schumann, Salieri and Mozart" and feature concert master Adelaide Federici. This performance will open at the

Georgia 400 toll - another 10 years! - 04:52 PM
In 2001 a toll was implemented on Georgia 400, a road that runs north of the city of Atlanta. It was intended to offset the cost of construction and to be in effect for ONLY 10 years and that would be the end of it. Ha! You know that never happens. Once the government gets a piece of your money they never like to let go and find some excuse to keep it going. Well sometimes it's justified and sometimes it's just shenanigans. Well, according to the GDOT, the phenomenal growth of this north-south corridor now requires the improvement of exits

Fulton County to evaluate becoming largest charter school system in the country! - 05:31 PM
I was surprised when I read recently of this new development and wondered what it would mean to our schools. In Fulton County we have we have more schools with high SAT performance than any other system in Georgia. Seven Fulton County schools, all in North Fulton are among the top 20 highest scoring schools in the state and average around 75 points above the national average. Why would we wish to change the way we operate? Well, from what I can surmise, if approved and carefully implemented it could allow the school system to operate with more freedom from many

Choices - for the Home Buyer in Missouri - Missouri Home buying - Low prices Low rates - invest today in buying the home you want - 07:32 PM
Fall is here and we have a time in history like never before, where interest rates are so low that some amortization schedules are starting off with more going to principal with the very first payment then going to interest. Many people are refinancing and taking advantage of cutting as much time as possible off of the years they have on their home mortgage so that they can focus on recovering retirement dollars later or just focus on other things without having a mortgage. The climate for the home buyer is extremely rare also interest rates on the MHDC first time

Points that need to be restated - An Open Letter to Mortgage Representatives and Loan Officers - 12:28 AM
A few of things happened in the past 2 weeks that prompted me to reprint an post that I had blogged a couple fo years ago. One thing that happened is the accessing my voicemail and checking the messages there, many of which are ones that I didn't answer on purpose. Another is the number of e-mails that I get from mortgage reps asking for me business. And the last thing that happened was viewing a video put out by a couple of fellsa who cater to the real estate industry professionals (and the mortgage industry professional, and employees of specific

Priority One: Revival and Repentance - 02:22 AM
Welcome to my Priority One series of blog entries. Each week on Active Rain I start my week with a post about the Christian walk, or something from the Word of God that has been encouragement to me. For almost two years now, there is a small group in my church -- not unlike many others at churches everywhere across the country, I am sure -- that has been meeting weekly to pray for revival. We are asking God to come and visit his people once again. We are looking for another "Great Awakening". Surely as we look at the state of our

Are You Willing to Do What You Want Others to Do? If Not, Stop Complaining. - 10:26 AM
Steve Shatsky had a great featured post today. It was basically about forcing change by not spending our money with companies that are doing things that we disagree with. I'm all for voting with my dollars. That's what the free market is all about. It's always easy to protest and complain about some big bad company or some big bad government. But how do we handle it when we are in charge of hiring people? What sort of employment conditions and benefits do we offer? Unions are always fighting the good fight for better working conditions and better wages. Who doesn't like seeing

If You've Passed Away It Can't be You Blogging! - 07:19 PM
During my time on Active Rain several bloggers have passed away. Some well known and some not so well known. So, when someone has passed on should be there be a disclaimer on their site that they aren't the one blogging and that they are no longer with us? That way when a comment is left it is not left to them. Sort of think that would be fair to the consumer as well...who might call and ask to speak to someone who is no longer with us and be told what? They are on an appointment? On vacation? May I
