Doing my part at St. Patrick's Church, Sonora CA - 12:10 AM
Today I was in charge of the babysitting at St. Patrick's Church in Sonora, CA.  I remember when my kids were little the wonderful feeling seeing the door to the babysitting room open.  Ahhh I can sit in church with peace and quiet and hear myself pray!!!  Now it is my turn to do the same for other parents.
All volunteers at St. Patrick's church have been fingerprinted and taken a course on children's safety.  So come to mass and enjoy some quiet time...even if it is only about an hour!!!

When Not Voting Is Voting - 05:11 PM
"Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote." ~George Jean Nathan
I saw the above quote in my twitter stream this morning. And as we’re hearing that the election of 2010 is going to be historic, the fact remains we all know somebody who won’t be participating. And yet by doing that they really are participating – by allowing others to decide for them – through the purposeful silencing of their own voice. There’s still time. Go to the polls on Tuesday. (It really does matter who's in office when it comes to the real estate and … (2 comments)

Not Quite Speechless Post - It's Time to Gather in Oklahoma - Gotta Beat the Squirrels Though. - 08:41 AM
We have a pecan orchard on our farm.  I love that part of the farm.  We do have to deal with crows and squirrels though.  If you're thinking of moving to McCurtain County, many parts of the county and in Choctaw County also has soil that is suitable for nut trees.  There'll be pecan pie this Thanksgiving!  … (7 comments)

Tell Me Something Good That Happened To You This Past Week ~ - 08:46 AM
Tell Me Something Good That Happened To You This Week! See this Cat?  She's a GO-GETTER.  That "mouse" that she caught in the barn must have been huge, gaging by the length of it's tail hanging out of her mouth. She's a mouser that won't quit.  For those of you that haven't followed my blog posts about CuCu, she was an abandoned baby kitten left at one of my listings so she came home with me.  I've never regretted it.  She's got a great personality, follows me around like a puppy dog and catches all of the mice in the barn.  … (13 comments)

Phoenix First Time Home Buyer Coffee Shop Talk with Anna Banana! Part 6
Doesn't this moment just feel so sweet to you? It does for me. This is the last step to the home buying process; how time flies, right? Though, I'm sure you've been counting down the days to this moment! We're finally here: the final walkthrough and closing!
So how is the packing going? I know the sellers have moved out over the past couple of days, so this means we'll be doing the walk through through an empty home. I know, I know, you're anxious to move in … (11 comments)

VOTE or shut up - 05:43 PM
I just saw a gentlemen interviewed on the news....
He said, "Get out there and vote or shut up"...

I thought well, that sure is blunt, but you know what?  He's right...it is our right as an American, a right that did not come easily.  200 years ago you had to be white, male and wealthy in order to vote...
Now we need to exercise that right...let your voice be heard...VOTE TOMORROW!

Making small rooms look bigger to Buyers - 05:17 PM
When you're putting your property on the market, you want to make it seem as big and comfortable as
possible. Let's face it.  Buyers are attracted to space.  However, you probably have at least one room in
your home - and perhaps even more - that feels small and a little cramped.  Of course you don't want the
buyer's first impression of the room to be its size. But it isn't practical to be knocking down walls and
renovating. So what do you do?  Here are some ideas for making small spaces seem larger and more
comfortable:
• Remove any items and … (1 comments)

Quotes of the day - 05:18 PM
1.  "Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest."
Mark Twain
2.  "If your success is not on your own terms, if it looks good to the world but does not feel good
in your heart, it is not success at all."
Anna Quindlen
3.  "Setting your own standards - and living up to them - is a better way to profit. Not to
mention a better way to make your day worth all the effort you put into it."

Stain. Stain, Go away - 05:23 PM
When preparing your home for sale, you want to make sure all the big stuff is fixed.  So you repaint the livingroom, repair the squeaky fence, and clear away the clutter in the basement.
But it's often the little things that buyers notice. Especially stains. No matter how small, a stain has a nasty habit of jumping out and screaming, "I'm here!"
What's the best way to remove a stain? Buy a cleaning product that matches the surface you're trying to clean. Then read the instructions carefully before you use it. If you don't, you might inadvertently damage the surface.

No Second Chances On That First Impression - 03:02 PM
In our business life and personal life for that matter often meetings and encounters with others are brief and they actually do not become your life long buddies, friends, or part of your love life but are mere "acquaintances" to get the task at hand done. So therefore when meeting ANYONE for the first time keep in mind there are
No Second Chances On That First Impression.
You leave your image, your mark frozen in time with them at that first encounter. I know this is true cause I have seen others I work with stumble out of the chute … (12 comments)

Video - The Kind of Friend We All Should Be - 02:36 AM
What a wonderfully inspirational video this is.  We mere humans can learn so much about how to treat others by just watching nature.  Thanks Fran for sharing!
Via Fran Gatti - Realtor®, CDPE®, RDCPro®, Crescent City CA Real Estate (RE/MAX Coastal Redwoods):
Here is an example of a loyal friend, someone who will stand by you and shoulder your burden no matter what.  We should all be this lucky to have someone who will "flip us over" when we are on our back floundeirng.  Have a great work week!

Are Gadgets, Widgets and Graphics Killing Your Blog Readership - Bigger is Not Necessarily Better - 02:50 PM
News Flash - if it takes 3 minutes to load your blog post, I'm not going to stick around to read it, your client won't either. I've noticed recently that it takes a lot longer to load certain blog pages than it used to. In fact, on more than one occasion my browser has crashed and I've walked away more than a little frustrated. At first I thought that it was just something going on with my computer; then I noticed a trend. In every case the issue was the number and size of the graphics in the post. More often … (43 comments)

Are We Ready to Solve the Housing Crisis? - 11:21 AM
Every once in a while we hear a rational voice.  The housing market is in trouble, the economy is in trouble, people are losing their homes, recovery is slow, jobs aren't growing, what to do?
I think John is one of those rational voices.  I had to share his post.
Via John Mulkey, Housing Guru (TheHousingGuru.com):
With three years of struggle under our belts, are we ready to solve the housing crisis? Are we ready to accept a strategy that could help stabilize housing and begin to get the economy rolling again? Now that housing has become mired in yet another calamity (the … (0 comments)

Waste Management for New Construction and Remodeling - 10:33 AM
About 75% of new construction and up to 25% of whole-house remodeling jobs can be recovered, not landfilled. The key materials tend to be cardboard, wood, metals and clean gypsum board.
A big part of building green is managing the job site's "tailpipe." What you throw out on a job can say an awful lot about overall project management, from your scopes of work to budgeting to job site practices.
Know what you throwThe first step in developing a waste management plan that will work is to do some job site waste audits. If the projects you do vary widely in … (0 comments)

Why didn’t my house sell? What to look at when you house didn’t sell the first time! - 12:10 PM

Why didn’t my house Beaverton, Oregon home sell? What to look at when your house didn’t sell the first time! The first thing you need to do is look at is at the home. Is it show ready? Is it priced right? (REALLY?) Now, I take a lot of expired listings in Beaverton, Oregon and one of the main reasons I do is I’m not going to lie to you about the price or the condition.

The three things that it takes to get a home sold are price, condition and marketing. The best marketing and the best conditioned homes will … (9 comments)

There's a special place in hell for the guy who invented robo calling - 09:16 PM
I’ve been home since around three this afternoon and my home phone hasn’t stopped ringing. Politicos are getting their last licks in with the robo-calls before tomorrow’s election. 14 calls from 3 PM to 6 PM…and not a one of them I’ve listened to. From 6 Pm to 9 PM, they’re coming in about one every ten minutes.
Judging only from my reaction…these things are pretty ineffective.
The fact that I’m on the Federal DO NOT CALL list is not a problem for politicians…they EXEMPTED themselves from the same laws we all have to live by.
I welcome tomorrow’s … (25 comments)
