The Good, The Bad & the Very Ugly... Real estate is a tough business - Like d-u-u-UH! Tough for the agent, tough for lenders, tough for the inspector. Not every property that undergoes a transaction is easy and pristine. Some transactions are difficult and the property is in deplorable condition. On some, the stench caused by the aroma of an exotic blend of feces, rotting food and general house degradation, provides the cold slap of reality; what was once someone's pride and joy, has now been reduced to a blight on the landscape. I'm just getting into blogging and haven't attracted much of an audience yet, but I'm having fun sending links to everyone who is mentioned in a blog or who is part of an organization mentioned in my report of local concerts, storytelling events, art exhibits, etc. "I've only just begun" as the song goes, but I think it's going to be a great way to help get people to follow me. I'm hoping they'll share the blog that has something to do with them with their friends and others in their organizations. 
Tomorrow I will lug 100 plastic champagne flutes to a gathering of friends and family to toast another milestone in our lives. These little plastic glasses cost 50 cents each. I bought them at Party City ten years ago. I carefully wash them by hand and let them air dry, then pack them away for the next event.

I can't do that.... This post could be considered preaching to the choir, so for those of you who know this, who believe this, who do this, I apologize. Bourbon Street...Not Sesame Street! The New Orleans Trifecta - A Great Time was had by ALL! Technology and networking abounded this last week in New Orleans, LA. Arriving on Wednesday for "Beads for Bloggers," we met up with many friends from all across the nation who were there to learn and share their technology knowledge and to network with other real estate professionals. Missy Caulk, Christa Stewart and I headed found our way to the Famous Door and learned our first lesson about New Orleans from the fabulous bartender at the bar, that we were on 'Boubon Street, not Sesame Street!' … (46 comments)

Today, Saturday, Nov 13, 2010 is day 3 for the 24th annual American Sandsculpting Championship on Fort Myers Beach. Locals know this event draws huge crowds to our island paradise. Last year saw over 40,000 visitors stroll the beach in front of the Fort Myers Beach Holiday Inn to see the master and pro-am carvers. I stopped by this morning to catch the progress of the carvings. It was a beautiful morning, there were plenty of smiling visitors and the artists were busy demonstrating their considerable talents. Enjoy !!!

The first Saturday of every month, in downtown Georgetown, in the courthouse square (note Courthouse on right) , for several months out of the year, there is Market Day. Vendors, food, music, people - all the ingredients that go into making up the recipe that creates a classic Central Texas event.

After reading the post by Charita Cadenhead, http://activerain.com/blogsview/1967105/losing-a-listing-to-the-competition, about losing a listing to the competition, I thought of a recent listing I had. I had the property on the market for 6 months and originally priced it at $139,000. I told the seller the price was too high, but they were friends and wanted to list it a little high to start with. I told them this is not the market to test and we soon reduced to $119,000. I marketed it every way I could think and spent too much money trying to get a sale. Many people are discouraged from trying to learn new knowledge or skills because of time issues. They already feel that their lives are too busy and they don't see how it is possible to fit more commitments into their already jammed schedules. Other people take an overly laid-back approach to new knowledge acquisition. They sign themselves up for classes and programs and then don't take those classes and programs seriously.
