ActiveRain & Kodak Contest: What Would You Do With the Money You Save on Ink? - 01:26 AM
I really enjoy the writing contests.  They force me to think outside my comfort zone.  Wanted to pass this one along.  What will you do with an extra $220.00 this year?
Via ActiveRain Corp.:
Kodak is intent on becoming a trusted source for the best education, best practices and best technology for real estate professionals. It makes sense that an industry giant would team up with ActiveRain, the real estate network where agents come to get the best education, share the best practices and learn about the newest technologies. One technology that, on its surface, has changed very little over the years is printer … (1 comments)

Is Your Social Media Plan Strategic or Tactical? Do You Know the Difference? - 08:00 PM
Do you have a plan for your Social Media? If yes, is it a strategic or tactical plan? Do you know the difference?
As a social media consultant and strategist, I'm faced with this question every day. In social media marketing, we often want to put a plan of action in place before we know where we are going. In fact, I've been struggling with the same question for my own business. I know what I want and I know what to do, but sometimes I find myself doing things that aren't aligned with where I want to go. Thus this … (13 comments)

Halloween is when I choose to celebrate with my clients and their kids! - 12:21 AM

This year was another successful client appreciation party and though not everyone could come this year thanks to a nasty flu bug that has been going around, we still had lots and lots of fun. With hay rides, pumpkin carving, smores, bbq and best of all friends.
Here are just a few of the pictures from this year’s event.

If you want to attend this fun event and have fun like my clients have every year, give me a call I would love to help you sell your house … (9 comments)

I’m proud to bill myself as the family Realtor, but what do you do when you hear news like this? - 12:35 PM
As many of you know I want to help families home, but a recent report on Oregon students makes me realize this may not be the place for families unless they want to be like me and home school. For a long time now I’ve wondered about our schools and how bad they have gotten. Not only in the education department, but in their lack of what I’ll call care, for the students.
A recent study of middle and high school students really just proves to me that the agenda of the schools isn’t about the students but about how much … (14 comments)

Election Day Don't Forget to Vote - 09:30 AM
Election Day Today is Tuesday November 2rd and it is Election Day.  I would like to remind all that as citizens in a Republic we have a right to exercise our right to voice an opinion in whom we want to best represent our interests.  There's been a terrible price we've paid for our apathy as citizens in the once great country.  What is occuring now is a direct result of citizens not beig involved in governmental affairs.  The politicians have grabbed just for themselves.  It is not about them, but it is about us and our needs.  It is time to … (9 comments)

Maine Land, 50 Acre Farm For Sale. Home Has 10 Foot Pole Marks All Over It. - 08:00 AM
The land in Maine is superb, stellar with view, fields in front, mixed woods in back. The house in Maine, well, not so good.
You are not paying anything for the five room home, garage though.
The big yellow sticker price dangling from the chimney says $35,900.
Yes, $35,900.
So YOU decide if you need some bulldoze operator numbers to punch out, call.
Or if a practice fire drill is in order once you remove the roof shingles and move on.
Building something newer, further back from the road.
Now if Bob Vila is your brother, well, maybe this Charlie … (5 comments)

Active Rain Blogging Tip 702...."The Image Insertion Won't Work When Spell Check Is On" - 08:17 PM
You have speed polished a blog post on real estate, your community, something you are sharing with the Active Rain community. To rocket in to cyberspace for the rest of the global village to sniff at, kick around, learn from. You find an image you want to insert, to add to the blog post. Something pertinent. That would complete the blog post. So it is "show", not just "tell" or read. But for some darn reason you toggle the image colored tree AR tool bar icon and wait. And wait. As much fun as watching paint dry during the delay in … (4 comments)

Don't Know Where to Vote? Just Send a Text Message! - 11:36 AM
Yep, it's that simple.Pretty cool really, especially for the techie geeks like me. I did it and it worked perfectly (see the screenshot below).
Just text “where” to 30644. (You can also text “donde” to get your answer in Spanish.) The system, which is free, will reply, asking for your home address. Give it to them, and it’ll send back your polling location.

If you want more specifics, just check out this post by FastCompany.

Get Out and Vote...It isn't about YOU! - 07:55 AM
Yesterday, I heard a caller on a talk radio show about voting call in and say that she wasn't planning to vote in this election. Her rational was that the polling showed a landslide victory for the Republicans and she was a Democrat.
REALLY?!?
I think some have forgotten how hard fought our RIGHT and PRIVILEGE to vote was won.
As a woman, and a citizen, I never take for granted that I have the honor of, and the right to, cast my vote in the United States of America. Not all of my not-so-distant relatives had that right.
It doesn't matter what the … (6 comments)

Delaware Mortgage Rates - Tuesday - November 2, 2010 - 02:39 PM
Delaware Mortgage Rate Advisory for Tuesday November 2, 2010 - ELECTION DAY!!
Tuesday's bond market has opened has opened in positive territory despite early stock strength. The stock markets are up ahead of today's elections with the Dow up 72 points and the Nasdaq up 17 points. The bond market is currently up 10/32, but we will likely see little change in this morning's Delaware mortgage rates due to weakness late yesterday. There is no relevant data scheduled for release today, so we will be watching the major stock indexes for direction in bonds. If stocks extend current gains, we could see … (0 comments)

What our Founding Father's Had to Say About Government - 12:58 AM
Here are some quotes from some very wise men.  It would boad us all well to keep these words in mind today when we enter the voting booth.  Everyone get out and vote!
John Adams
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

SHOULD YOU OFFER PRO BONO STAGING? - 09:09 AM

Here's the thing.  My best, i .e. most referring Realtor (20+ staging projects this year) has a client sitting in a house in Washington DC, a nice littlehouse, about to be foreclosed on.  This was her father's house.  It has or had a reverse mortgage on it.  She may or may not end up with anything from a sale, but better than foreclosure.
She is on disability. She has no lights or heat for that matter since her electricity was turned off for non-payment.  It's getting cold outside.
She is a nice lady.  The Realtor wants to help her sell … (22 comments)

Social Media Isn't A Cocktail Party - 09:59 AM
If I called you stupid I wouldn't expect a positive response. Few people, when asked "So, who here is an idiot?" will eagerly raise their hand, yet rarely do we react when faced with information that suggests we are. And that is never truer than with social media. There are still many in the 'I don't get it' crowd and that's part of the problem - they are easy targets for the plethora of social media 'guru's but I believe we owe it to ourselves to at least try to understand it. I throw down the gauntlet why? Because I continue … (3 comments)

Where do I vote in The Baltimore metro Area? - 01:20 PM
Where do I vote in The Metro Baltimore area? November 2nd 2010. The mid term elections are upon us in Maryland. The Governor Race between Governor O'Malley and Bob Erlich is heating up. Each candidate has a gubernatorial record so as the day continues the results will be interesting.
As a Citizen of only 6 years of this Great CountryI am always proud to cast my vote. I may not agree with all of the politics or the candidates and I am certainly not thrilled about a recorded voice mail interrupting my dinner, but I am proud to be an American and that means I need … (5 comments)

Did social media really help the Governor of Maryland win the Gubernatorial Election? - 10:57 PM
Did social media really help the Governor of Maryland win the Gubernatorial Election? An interesting observation as I sit here on the night of the mid-term elections watching on TV the celebratory speeches from the Democratic Incumbent Governor O'Malley from downtown Baltimore.
This is from Martin O'Malleys Facebook Fan page.
33,847 People Like This During his speech he even mentioned the support shown on Facebook. His personal page has over 4000 friends.
On the other hand the defeated Republican,Bob Erlich only has 832 people who "Like" his fan page! He does not seem to have a personal page.
DO YOU HAVE A FAN … (6 comments)
