Young People Doing Good Deeds - in Apex North Carolina - 05:39 PM
Don't you hate it when you hear old curmudgeons complaining about "Kids these days". They go on and on how as children they were so wonderful, hard working, polite, etc.  "Kids nowadays can never measure up." Of course, just as with all news, the only young people we hear about on the news are the ones that commit crimes or get in trouble.
Well, here's a story of an exemplary young woman who is just one of many "good kids" in Apex who is giving up her time to raise money for the local Red Cross.
As I wrote last week … (5 comments)

New HUD 1 - 04:24 PM
I had my first closing with the new HUD1 form and it sure was different!  Even the paralegals are having issues with the software.  Luckily for me and my client, I was diligent in reviewing every line and now I feel like I have a better understanding.  I still fail to see how this improves anything for our clients.  I represented the seller and on the third page of the HUD was all of the buyers loan information and that seems like it should be private information?  I am sure we will continue to see many changes along the way this … (0 comments)

7 Bedroom Homes? - 10:49 AM
Ah, my favorite topic whether it's the house for sale my buyer with six kids must have or the house someone wants me to list it for me! The property in question is almost always the 1900+/- square foot house that's a raised ranch or split foyer, whatever you'd like to call it.  As you open the front door, you can go up about 7 steps to the living area or go down about 7 steps into the basement.  As you go upstairs, you have the usual living room/dining room combination, kitchen, hall bath and in this case, 3 bedrooms, owner's suite … (20 comments)

Maine...This "To Be Continued" Cape Sits On 17.5 Acres in Ludlow ME, Aroostook County. - 08:23 AM
How does this Maine real estate story end? It depends on who buys this Maine country home. If you peck away at the place on three day weekends, vacations now with an eye to retirement full time down the road, it can be slow, easy and not so costly.
If you want the place turn key so all you need to do is go buy groceries, then we can help on this end to assemble an army of craftsmen to get the job done. Without emptying both pockets. Not too big a hit in the wallet area. Full concrete … (1 comments)

Easy, Easy, Relax You're In Maine Now. Slow Down, Take A Deep Breath, Just Sit There Until Your Head Clears. - 09:06 AM
"Life has been a blur and is picking up speed." That is the common theme, sentiment statement I hear from many of our down country real estate buyers. The sense of exhaustion, worrying about a gazillion things is the side effect of living where the pace is way way too fast. The conveyor belt called life with these bone weary real estate buyers is increasing in grade and speed.
And I have had many phone callers, emailers indicating worry about when it will all snap, come undone. And doubt the guy and gal on the other end can hold … (6 comments)

Death, Not Something To Worry About And Part Of Life. It Happens Right On Schedule. - 10:04 AM
You get a call from a family out of state. There's been a death. The home mom lived in in Maine is going to need to be sold. She passed away a few months back and it's time before another Maine winter to get the real estate sale ball rolling.
The family needs some help, guidance from a local professional. What to do first, second and third in the process?
When a Maine real estate broker enters the old home on say the Jones Road or Alice Avenue,  you study the top to bottom of the place. And the … (0 comments)

This Maine Real Estate Video Will Burn Roughly 3500 Calories...Cyberwise. - 11:00 AM
When a property in Maine has 64 acres and a home on it, showing just the home in the video walk thru is incomplete. Like missing dessert. This Hammond Maine home is a corker, totally renovated from the studs in, floors up.
Enjoy the show of this country home a step from Houlton Maine with 2 full baths, skylights, a 3 car garage for your toys. And extra mobile home site with another well and septic part of the package. The lights are dimming, the show is ready to start..here, have some popcorn. Sshhhhhh. Roll the video.
The price … (3 comments)

Houlton Maine Victorian Has Blend Of Property Period Design From 1800's. - 09:56 PM
Main Street, Houlton Maine home. You and your friends are on the open front porch watching a fourth of July parade. Or decorating that same porch for Christmas parties. This 5 bedroom, 2.5 bath home with two stairways could be an inn again. For years it was the Twin Elm Boarding home. And then the current owners made a list, and went to work on everything in this vintage home. Carefully, the expensive route time and money wise, but the operation a success. The original woodwork..like the staircase that had a million layers of paint removed, the pattenered hardwood floors … (0 comments)

THAT HITS US WHERE WE LIVE - 02:46 PM
The Pending Home Sales Index recovered from its November slump, increasing 1.0% in December, putting it 10.9% over its level of a year ago. National Association of Realtors chief economist Lawrence Yun sees "...a broad improvement over year-ago levels. December activity was the fifth-highest monthly tally in two years." The slump was attributed to the rush before November to grab the tax credit set to expire at the end of that month.
We now know the tax credit was extended to buyers who can sign a contract by April 30 and close on the home by June 30. It's also been … (0 comments)
