You are in the Hospitality Business! - 11:17 PM
Yes we certainly are. Whether showing the 100th home or asking for a price adjustment the folks chose us to work with and for that I am truly grateful.
Via Glenn Phillips (RealSource):
You are in the hospitality business.
What?  Me?
Yes, you.  In fact, it is true for all of us.
You see, if you interact with clients, attorneys, brokers, vendors, employees, bosses or colleagues you are in the hospitality business.  Not just service.  Not just customer service.  Hospitality.
Unfortunately, most people flunk this role and their business (or career) reflects that.
One of the most critical factors for great hospitality … (3 comments)

Take time for thank yous - 11:19 PM
Always a great idea, I try to send 3 a day or 15 a week. Put a list together of all the ways to say thank you.
Via James Safonov Property Manager Natomas Roseville, Antelope, Sacramento, W. Sac. (Homepointe Property Management):
I recently received an unsolicited thank you from a happy client that made me feel very good.  In reflecting back on the exchange, I am much more moved by the fact it was completely unexpected.  As professionals we are expected to be just that--a professional.   The extent of positive feedback we experience is recurring business....a returning client.   My thoughts are we can take … (1 comments)

If a little courtesy goes a long way ... - 02:52 PM
I rarely write a "member's only" post because my goal is to provide information and insight to the community at large. Exception - (and bullet points to myself as a reminder to be a peacemaker instead of a troublemaker) ...
Everyone gets under pressure from time to time. It happens. The month end of February was, for the people in my office, genuinely a battle. We had multiple files that "had to close" by the end of the month and they all had challenges. Happy to say mine closed with the exception of two that rolled over to this week.

After a successful effort to persuade the federal government to move the Khalid Shaikh Mohammed trial from New York City, the Real Estate Board of New York has turned its attention to the missing station in the No. 7 line.
REBNY started a Web site BuildTheStation.com, a petition drive and a lobbying campaign to press the Obama administration to come up with hundreds of millions of dollars to pay for the station.
As work proceeds on a $2-billion extension of the No. 7 subway line, which currently bypasses a station previously planned for West 41st Street and Tenth Avenue, the Real Estate … (8 comments)

You said it was ugly but really? REALLY? - 04:36 PM
For years I have been putting ugly yellow signs on my listings.  They work, they get me a buyer on almost every home and when the seller doesn't allow me to put them on I get way less calls and showings.
So here is what happened today.
I put out the sign at 3pm and by 4pm I have 2 leads and 1 talking with a mtg broker right now.
Great huh?
No
The seller (who lives in one of the worst areas, high crime next to a apts that are full on illegals)
called me at 4:10 and said "this … (16 comments)

"Yeah, I got about 240 acres," the farmer said. The attorney replied, "But, I mean do you have a case?"
"No, I have a John Deere."
"Well, do you have a grudge?"
The farmer said, "Yea, I got a grudge. That's where I park my John Deere."
"No, I mean do you have a suit?"
"Yes, sir, I got a suit. I wear it to church on Sundays."
Next, the … (10 comments)

Control Freaks.....What's Your Plan B? - 04:40 PM
Jimmy Dean said,"Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die tomorrow"
Mother Nature has a way of reminding us we aren't in charge, doesn't she? First Haiti and now Chile have felt her wrath with the horrendous earthquakes this year. It is a stark reminder of how impermanent our hold on reality is. Our US weather has also thrown us some curve balls this winter: Snowstorms and power outages can quickly render YOUR plans untenable-leaving you socked in, and unable to live life as usual. And, it's not just the weather. The economy and personal health issues can … (11 comments)

Unable to sell, homeowners become landlords - 10:28 AM

Unable to sell, homeowners become landlords

Are you having trouble selling your home in today's real estate market and thinking about becoming a landlord? If so, you're not alone. A growing number of homeowners who need to relocate for a job or other reason are renting their homes instead of selling them in the current market.
Keep in mind that when you become a landlord, your property becomes a place of business and its insurance requirements change. For example, you would need a landlord insurance policy to cover the property and protect you if anyone is hurt on … (0 comments)
