For many, 2010 will undoubtedly prove to be one of the toughest years in the mortgage industry. The underwriting guidelines still continue to change daily, government regulation and intervention is at an all-time high, legislation is being proposed to change compensation models for Loan Originators, more fraud verification policies are being put in place to protect lenders adding confusion, borrowers are forced to jump through ridiculous hoops and great mortgage professionals are exiting our industry in droves. Let me repeat that.... "Great" mortgage professionals are exiting our industry, not "Good", but "Great".
December 2009 saw the demise of Editor & Publisher Magazine, which had been around since 1854. It lays claim to being the chief chronicler of the American newspaper industry and has presided over the business for 125 years and is a clear signal that an era is rapidly drawing to a close.
Sam Callahan, the son of a Realtor (and my friend & Active Rain member) in Silicon Valley, is 14 years old and has cancer which is not responding to two different types of chemotherapy. His cancer, Ewing's Sarcoma, had metasticized before it was discovered on September 22nd. After blogging recently about sellers who want to remain in the home while it is shown, and stating some of the reasons why they should leave the house, I had to eat my words this weekend.I got calls from two different sellers who said they came home after a showing and the doors were 'wide open,' and the key box was open.
