A recent article  from the NPR indicated that The Federal Reserve will stop buying mortgage-backed securities on Wednesday March 31. This marks the end to a massive program that's been helping the housing market recover.
When the economy showed signs of decline over a  year and a half ago, the government wanted to drive down interest rates for homeowners to stimulate the economy by making it cheaper to buy or refinance a house. The problem was that lenders were not issuing loans, even to homeowners with good credit. As a result, interest rates rose.

In response to the many complaints about the sometimes tedious and often confusing bidding system for HUD homes, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is looking at a new plan to streamline the process.
The new system will allow potential HUD buyers to purchase Scratch-off tickets at any convenience store or other lottery center with houses being awarded to the lucky winners!

March 31 is "transfer day" in the US Virgin Islands. The day commemorates an event that occurred over eight decades ago, when the Danish West Indies were formally ceded to the United States by Denmark.  They became the U.S. Virgin Islands, in exchange for twenty-five million dollars.
