Homeowners doing more remodels in 2010 - 12:44 PM
Homeowners are beginning to open their wallets again on improving their homes.  Since the real estate bubble burst homeowners have drastically reduced their spending on improving their homes but now that trend is slowing.

According to a recent RISmedia article (http://rismedia.com/2010-05-05/homeowners-loosen-purse-strings-for-home-improvement-projects/)
"In a survey recently released by American Express, 62% of homeowners said they planned to embark on home improvement projects in 2010, spending an average of $6,200 on enhancements."

This is definitely a nice sign for 2010 and hopefully we will continue to see the rest of the year improve.

Should I Do a Deed In Lieu of Foreclosure? - 06:36 PM
You are behind on your mortgage and you getting sick with stress because you don't know what to do...should you just let it go to foreclosure...or should you try a loan modification... or maybe a shortsale...what about a deed in lieu of foreclosure?  Homeowner's who are currenlty faced with this problem don't know where to turn.
A deed in lieu of foreclosure happens when a lender accepts the deed to the homeowner's property instead of pursuing the foreclosure.  The banks are willing to do this because it is a cheaper option than go through the foreclosure process.  Homeowner's need to realized … (2 comments)

Ten Reasons To Avoid Foreclosure - 07:12 PM
1. Foreclosure Follows You – Homeowners will always have to disclose that they have had a foreclosure on any mortgage application (and many job applications) that they submit in the future. This can have an adverse affect on their future mortgage rates. This is a credit item that is asked about specifically in credit inquiries. There is no seven-year time limit on this item.
2. Credit Score Negative Impact – Credit scores will be lowered by 300-plus points (per loan). Along with bankruptcy, a foreclosure is one of the most devastating credit issues you can have in relation to future credit … (4 comments)

Tour de Gila 2010 - 10:38 AM
The 24th annual Tour de Gila, in Silver City, according to my husband, was a “phenomenal event!” I wasn’t able to attend, because of Spring Showcase of Homes, but my husband, Murray, went up to see a few of the races on Saturday, and of course to catch a glimpse of Lance Armstrong. Starting on Wednesday, April 28 and going through Sunday, May 2, thousands and thousands of spectators lined the streets in spite of the high-winds and chilly weather, so they too could get a glimpse of Lance or a friend or family member that happened to be racing. You’ll … (3 comments)

Could Your Car Be Considered a Commerical Vehicle? - 07:48 PM
Recently a friend called in a panic.  She couldn't find her car.  At first she thought she had lost her mind.  Then she thought her car had been stolen.  She called the police.  They said they would send someone but wanted to know if she had checked with her homeowners association. She called the towing company for the neighbhorhood and sure enough they had her car.  The reason it was towed?  The signage on the side of her car classified it, by HOA standards, as a commerical vehicle and commerical vehicles are not allowed to be parked on neighborhood streets.

Susan G Komen Workshop for Miss Brainerd Lakes Contestants - 10:33 AM
This week I joined the Miss Brainerd Lakes  Scholarship pageant (MAO) contestants and their guests for a workshop on breast cancer. I have a strong family tie to the ugly disease and always am interested in the latest information. A young woman, Rachel, started out the workshop by telling her story. She had a double mastectomy in her 20's, so was a great motivator for these young women to start checking their breast health early on in life and to continue being proactive. Our other speakers found cancer in their 40's and both of them finally ended up with having both … (2 comments)

Let the bidding begin! - 10:25 AM

When it comes to selling real estate, there isn't anything more exciting than watching a bidding war take place over your listing. The seller is excited, you as the listing agent are excited and the buyers are excited to participate.
The above condo listing in Las Vegas is a great recent example. The seller had newly rehabbed this property and the winning bid well exceeded their "bottom line" price. At the same time the winning bidder got a good deal compared to other sales in the complex.
The important thing to remember when selling using an online auction is that … (5 comments)

April home sales in Summit, NJ - 12:10 PM
April home sales in Summit, NJ
Spring has sprung in Summit with an unprecedented Spring Home Buying Spree!
23 Summit NJ homes have sold in April 2010 for a total of $23,472,800 vs 12 homes for $9,565,279 in April 2009!  That is 141% increase in sales!  Wow!
Why?  Well, there are a number of reasons and, given the prices, the home-buyer credit had nothing much to do with it.  This outstanding community is a hub for the NJ Transit Midtown Direct making the express train ride to NYC a fast and comfortable commute.  Couple that with a vibrant and diverse downtown … (1 comments)

Record-Setting 'Cash-in' Refinances Plugging Equity Drains - 07:46 AM
Refinancing home owners are putting money back into their home at record levels to help plug the equity drain. One in three borrowers, 33 percent, who refinanced their loan in the fourth quarter of 2009, lowered their principal balance, the highest "cash-in" share since Freddie Mac's quarterly Refinance Report began tracking the refinance data.

On par with the cash-in share, the report showed that the share of "cash-out" borrowers who did the opposite and increased their loan balance by 5 percent or more during the same period was also at a record low, 27 percent.
The last record low cash-out … (0 comments)
