Pending Home Sales Data Released - Surprise? - 12:16 PM
Apparently, how bad the actual fall in pending home sales contracts is was a surprise even to professional prognosticators. The National Association of Realtors® press release is headline, "Breaking News," accompanied by dramatic music on CNBC this morning.
Lawrence Yun's video on the NAR website is less dramatic. See the full press release there.

I am Russian but Not a Spy - 12:35 AM
I am Russian (came from the USSR in 1991), and I am not a Russian spy, or any other spy for that matter. This is sad, as when I heard in the news what properties these guys were buying, I figured that spies are paid better than most real estate brokers. ;-)
I checked Russian media, and sure enough, the Russian Government is angry, and claims that this is all wrong.  Which means that everything is right...
I do not think that for the professionals the level of spying activities by Russians, Chinese, and others is a secret.

What Does Your Offer of Service Above and Beyond Look Like? - 12:31 AM
I think all professionals who take pride in their work and how they perform it would believe they offer above and beyond customer service.
I certainly believe I do.
Recently, I've been thinking about that quite a bit and how I can actually explain to a prospective client exactly HOW it is that I provide above and beyond service.
Last year when my husband began talking to me about the importance of video blogging (and I mostly ignored him) I did make a video in which I discussed exactly what that above and beyond service means to me. Of course I've … (0 comments)

How Do I Get Fannie Mae Business? - 10:58 PM
I know there have to be quite a number of agents on this network who have Fannie Mae REO business.
I will be completing an application to seek some of that business in my area.
Does anybody have any words of advice or wisdom on that?
There are already agents in my area serving Fannie Mae REOs so I don't know if once Fannie Mae has agents in an area they no longer consider anyone else or what.
Very interested in feedback from knowledgable folks.
Thanks in advance.

AR Community!! Please Forgive Me! - 11:31 PM
I wrote a post last night about Service Above and Beyond and unwittingly clicked on the "Disable Comments" box. Come to think of it, I think I've been also clicking on the "This is not my content but I have permission to repost it" box as well.  Must go back through my posts to correct.
I am so sorry. I WANT comments. I NEED comments!! Good, bad and indifferent.
I'm so new at this I don't even know how to add the link in this post to the actual post.
I'll get it together.

Mile High Fine Homes Review: Devil's Food in Wash Park, Denver, CO - 02:11 PM

Devil's Food is an interesting little restaurant in Washington Park on S. Gaylord (if you are not from the area S. Gaylord in Washington Park has a hip retail, restaurant and office area). Devil's Food has an eclectic menu of breakfast, brunch, lunch and supper items (note...they open for supper Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights only).
The breakfast items such as Salmon Benedict and Trout and Eggs give an interesting twist to some old favorites. The lunch sandwiches (I love the Grilled Vegetable Panini with eggplant and yellow squash) all have a special little twist. The Short Rib Sandwich is wonderful!

Are Short Sales Giving Realtors a Bad Name? - 03:37 PM
If you are a Realtor you understand the frustrations of dealing with a short sale....and the issues usually do not come from the seller, buyer, listing agent, selling agent, home condition, etc... They come from the bank holding the mortgage and their general inability to follow through with their stated goal of moving the distressed property.
My personal experience: In the last month I just backed out of a short sale deal with one of the largest banks in the U.S. I wanted the home for myself and my son....it fit my needs perfectly and it fed the school I wanted … (5 comments)

Best Ever Blonde Joke - 10:24 AM
After reading a few jokes here on AR I decided to post one of my favorites.  Maybe you've seen it before, but I still laugh everytime I read it.
A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started."   Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"   The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster."   Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.   She lets him … (6 comments)

Seminar or Infomercial ? - 10:12 PM

I had the opportunity to sit through a "Marketing seminar " earlier today that was sponsored by Realtor.com .  Having been to many of these events in the past I always expect the customary pitch toward the end and I have absolutely no problem with that as this was a free event with coffee and danish being served and I always pull a few valuable items from them . What happened was an hour and a half into it I started to get that Uh-Oh feeling, you know that uncomfortable here we go type thing.  You can notice a general … (3 comments)

With Current Interest Rates This LOW .. Do Yourself a Favor and Make the Call! - 06:14 PM
Working with a lender before you start looking for a home is one of the most important things you can do.  Great advice here:
Via Gene Mundt (Chicago Bancorp):
The headlines of an Associated Press article found on MSNBC.COM this morning shouted "MORTGAGE RATES AT LOWEST IN FIVE DECADES".  This article reported that the last time we saw rates this good was in the 1950's.
But also reported within the article?   Low rates are still not causing much of a stir amongst consumers.  They're just not taking action.
I am here to make the plea to all current homeowners ... or those thinking … (0 comments)

Dogs/Pets and the 4th of July !! - 03:15 PM
The 4th of July is approaching fast.  Sounds of fireworks can already be heard in the evenings around my house. It's so important to remember our dogs and pets at this time of year, as most DO NOT like the loud noises and explosions going off.  Here are a few tips/reminders for all of us pet lovers and owners.

Do not bring your pets to a fireworks display of any kind !

More dogs run away at this time of year, than at any other time due to the loud noises and fireworks. Microchips and ID tags help … (1 comments)
