Retiring, Moving, Relocating To Houlton Maine, Aroostook County....I Like The Way You Think. - 06:55 AM
So the move to Northern Maine, relocation, retirement plans have been made and suddenly a wrinkle. Experts who have never been beyond Portland Maine if at all are gathering around, questioning you, wondering about your Maine real estate plans.  My advice? Talk to folks that have been to Maine, read the book, seen the movie. It's like asking someone what they thought of the new Italian, Chinese, Western Beef Restaurant and even though they have never eaten there either, just like you, you ponder their opinion, belief, rant. What good is that advice, reflection on here say, or just a guess, review … (8 comments)

Three Little Words A Real Estate Broker, Agent, REALTOR Should Not Have To Use, Fall Back On, Stall For Time With. - 08:04 AM
A salesman today is not a charismatic that can glibbly hook and by crook their way to marketing real estate with little knowledge about the property listings and get by in their communities by the skin of their teeth. The Maine real estate broker, agent, REALTOR who does not fill in the blanks with information, the property's pertinent details becomes a mystery, unknown agent peddling who knows what property. Loose as a goose, cut corners...heck no corners and flying below radar. Skating on very thin ice. How long can you hold your breath if you go thru, if the real estate back ground details, … (9 comments)

A plea for prayers - 12:27 PM
When your phone rings at 2am, your heart automatically goes into panic mode. You know innately the call could alter your life. I had one of those calls yesterday morning. On the other end was my best friend (and ActiveRainer), Lynette with 3 little words, "Brian's not breathing".
"I'll be right there" and my husband, TJ & I were out the door in 3 minutes.
Lynette & Brian are a couple that are easy to love and we have been like family since the day we met. They have been married 36 years and the 4 of us have often sat … (13 comments)

Why we live in Hood River Oregon - 01:12 PM
This Hood River is the most  friendly town I have ever lived in. Walk down the street and you will see more than one person you know. But more to the point, it is the activities and the life style most here agree we love the best. Last week we took a 35 minute drive south to Lost Lake located at the base of Mt. Hood. Soon we were floating in the middle of the lake in our Kayaks drinking in the beauty of the mountain ,trees and water.A quick afternoon outing . I love this place.

Now is a great time to purchase a Waterfront Home.

Quality Control. A Weird Story - 02:50 AM
It was 1976 when in search of better pay we moved to this frozen city 100 miles above the Arctic Circle. My wife with great difficulty got a job in school, and I filled a manager position in a bookstore. It was expanding, and for several months we were working in one side of the store while drilling, hammering, painting was continuing on the other side. I soon befriended the workers. They were 20-something, typical construction workers. Poorly trained, even more poorly equipped, they were good-natured guys and we went along just fine. They were fast and sloppy. The construction materials were … (26 comments)

What The Heck Are You Parlez-Vous About? - 04:41 PM
Every self-respecting Active Rainer has to write about marketing, branding, and some other very clever stuff. Very many did. I sort of stumbled here, and could not come with anything worth writing, and even more, reading…
But there is a reason why they say that if you keep thinking about something, it will come… and it came… right on time to celebrate.
I was sitting at our dining table looking at this watermelon and I could not get rid of the feeling that it wanted to tell me something. And I could not understand the message. And then I got it. … (31 comments)

Effective Blogging – writing content that ranks and gets read. - 11:55 PM
Effective Blogging - writing content that ranks and gets read is the title of the Chapter in ebook Soci@l
I started blogging relatively late. I started blogging after joining AR in  the fall of 2007. Before I was writing long responses to questions that I was receiving by e-mail, and it was hugely unproductive.
I was so happy finding Active Rain and so fascinated with that new community offering so much expertise and so interested in everybody’s growth that I plunged into this blogging thing and never looked back.
For nearly 3 years that I am on AR, I see that there … (8 comments)

Where Do Cincinnati First-Time Home Buyers Get Educated? - 04:23 PM
With the expansion of knowledge on the Internet, where do first-time home buyers turn to find all of the information they need to buy a new home?
While there are so many places to do extensive internet research about buying a home or condo in Cincinnati, consumers are often left with many unanswered questions.  Talking to a live professional can make a big difference and give a buyer a sense of relief as to how the local customs and traditions can affect them.
Home buyers are often afraid to make a mistake when purchasing a home, because a mistake can end up costing them thousands of dollars or … (2 comments)

When Contributing to AR Groups Remember Common Courtesy! - 08:35 AM
Active Rain Groups are a great network tool to meet other members you share common interests with. After a long real estate day I often find myself perusing my group list of over 80+ to find something to read to chill out . Lately I have clicked on one of my favorite topics ready to dig in and can't find one post that's on topic ! Numerous posts have merely been dumped in a group with no specific design !
How does this happen ? When blogging on AR, we are allowed to post our blog article in an … (19 comments)
