Home Prices May Be Headed Back Down - 12:09 PM
3 reasons home prices are heading lower A decline in home prices is being predicted for 2010; in fact, an national average drop of 11.3% is expected.  There exist three main reasons for this expected reversal: a coming flood of foreclosures, rising interest rates, and the end of the tax credits.
The huge number of foreclosures that are occurring remain a big problem.  The government-led mortgage modification programs are not up to par, and its shortcomings are a main reason that foreclosure has not slowed down.  In addition, many people with adjustable rate mortgages will face a much higher monthly payment, … (2 comments)

Homes Shrink As Market Sinks - 12:14 PM
When the going gets tough, the houses get smaller. Or at least that’s what data from the U.S. Census Bureau are suggesting.
According to the data, the national average decrease was 51 square feet, to 2,422 square feet. In the Northeastern United States, the change was more dramatic: House size diminished by more than 200 square feet, to 2,529 square feet.
Is this a victory for the anti-McMansion forces that have spent much of the last decade railing against the waste, overconsumption and isolation that very big houses can promote? Not so much.

Enjoy a Week on the Water in Maryland This Summer - 11:16 PM
If you're still looking for the perfect vacation spot for this summer, you're in luck.  My brother and his wife just completed renovations on a house in Ocean Pines, only 5 miles from the boardwalk, ocean beach and attractions at Ocean City, MD.
They didn't know exactly when the work would be finished, so they didn't list the property for seasonal rental this year (as they will in the future).  In fact, we just finished final details, including the decorating, over the 4th of July weekend. Now it will be available for weekly rentals for the remainder of this summer.  It's … (9 comments)

An ActiveRain Wannabe? - 09:08 AM
In some ways, yesterday wasn't a holiday.  Buyers are still looking and asking questions, just like any other day!
One of our many Internet presences is monitoring Trulia Voices for questions pertaining to our local area.
Trulia isn't very dominant in our Cincinnati to Dayton corridor area, but periodically someone asks a question, we answer, and then cross your fingers and hope something further comes of it.
However, there's something that has been happening more lately that is kind of baffling.  A question will be posted regarding a local listing, and the answers start rolling in from out of state agents!

TAX CREDIT CONTINUES UNTIL APRIL 30, 2011 (for some people) - 05:17 PM
If you have served with the military outside the USA you may still be able to take advantage of the $8,000.00 or $6,500.00 homebuyer tax credit.  Serving at least 90 days  out of the country during the time period of December 30, 2008 and May 1, 2010 should make you eligible to still take advantage of the tax credits.
The media and most of us have been focused on the tax credit that was for homebuyers under contract by April 30, 2010.  Even more focus has been on the extension of the final closing date from June 30, 2010 to September … (5 comments)

A Visit to the Oasis Camel Dairy (Almost) | Ramona, California - 11:02 PM
A Visit to the Oasis Camel Dairy (Almost) We left the coast today to try and find some sun, which has been sadly missing, except for a peek now and then, for a number of days. Heading east was the way to go since the marine layer would be gone.
A favorite place to visit, about 50 miles away, is Julian, known now for its apples but with a history of being a gold rush town.
It's easy to get to, you simply take the 78 freeway which becomes a smaller road in Escondido, then follow that through the mountains to … (13 comments)
