Lunch Today Was a Lot Like A Real Estate Inquiry - 09:32 PM
Lunch Today Was a Lot Like A Real Estate Inquiry. Don asked me where I wanted to have lunch today.  I thought about it.  Papa Pablano's would be a good choice but we'd been there this week.
Roma's would  have been a good choice but Italian wasn't quite what I wanted today.  What I really wanted was fish and a salad.  There's a franchise Catfish Restaurant only a couple of miles from where we live and I love their fried catfish.  They have an excellent salad bar to go with it.  So I told him that I really wanted to … (7 comments)

Tell Me Something Good That Happened To You This Week - 10:12 PM
Tell Me Something Good That Happened To You This Week.

It's been a wonderful week.
It's that hot dry time in July, triple digits.
I'm a hot weather person.
I do not like cold weather..  Sun and fun is my time of the year.
Of course the air conditioner feels good and there's something about the dry heat of summer that makes sipping cold iced tea a memory that lasts :)

It's been so hot that the pool feels like a hot tub.  Well, not quite that hot, but definitely heated.
Pool water over … (5 comments)

Not Quite Speechless Sunday - 10:41 PM
Armadillos The "Little  Armored Ones" These guys sure can damage a flower bed.   The "Little Armored Ones" originated in South America but for the last 160 years just keep spreading northward.  Armadillo Links:  How to cook an armadillo. Armadillos as pets. Armadillo Races - A Unique Sport If you're relocating to Southeast Oklahoma from an area that doesn't have armadillos, you will have to get used to seeing these guys around.  They're pretty fascinating little animals but protect your flower beds or they'll dig them up!

Embracing Your Life By Wearing That Seatbelt - 01:57 PM
As real estate professionals, or even just ordinary automobile drivers out in the world, those who possibly took driver's ed in high school, or a defensive driving course after getting a ticket, we ALL KNOW about the importance of buckling up for safety purposes. Perhaps we had to sit through those gory crash scene movies with the real blood or fake blood aftermath sequences. Some films or YouTubes have been brought to us about the dangers of texting while driving.
This latest video from the UK has been making its link around on Facebook, Twitter, and the Internet and is SOARING … (13 comments)

Farley Elementary School District, Huntsville, AL Homes/New Developments - 06:56 PM
With school getting ready to start (August 9th), I thought it would be helpful for those still looking to purchase a home if I would write about homes and subdivisions in different school districts in and around Huntsville, AL.
Today I am writing about the Farley Elementary School district. I would recommend scheduling a tour of the school with the Principal, Dr. Donna White so you can see first had at all the school has to offer. Tell her that I sent you. Because these neighborhoods are growing by leaps and bounds, I wanted to tell you what the different subdivisions are and provide links … (3 comments)

Crofton MD Real Estate - Changes for Week of 7/25/10 - 7/31/10 - 06:12 PM
Eight new rentals came on the market in Crofton, MD last week. This is good news since the rental inventory is pretty low, and the demand is high. That brings the total available rentals in Crofton to sixteen. All the current rentals are townhouses, except for one single family detached home. Seven new homes became active during the week of 7/25 - 7/31. The current available homes for sale in the Crofton, MD inventory stands at 165. This is an excellent combination spanning all price ranges. The least expensive Crofton, MD home is listed for $159,900 and the most expensive is listed … (0 comments)

Crofton MD Real Estate - Homes for Sale in Cedar Grove - 06:20 PM
Some buyers think that Crofton, MD is out of their price range. If you're a first time home buyer, that couldn't be further from the truth. Crofton offers several sub-divisions that are affordable. One of those is Cedar Grove at Crofton. Cedar Grove is ideally located right off of Rt. 3 North, near the KMart Shopping Center. All of the condo's in Cedar Grove are what are called piggy back style. The two upper levels are one unit and there is a separate unit below.
Right now the prices in Cedar Grove range from $175K to $255K. Extremely affordable for this area. The Cedar … (0 comments)

Crofton MD Real Estate - Homes for Sale in Chapman Farm - 07:19 PM

OK, you've already selected Crofton, MD as your destination of choice to buy a home. Now its time to drill down into the specific neighborhoods.
One of the ones that should be high on your list is going to be Chapman Farm. This unique subdivision is made up exclusively of single family detached homes.
Built in the late 90's, these homes have a lot to offer. Most with finished basements, nine foot ceilings and maintenance free exteriors.
Chapman Farm is a community with houses for sale starting in the mid $400's and going over $600 in some cases.

Crofton MD Real Estate - Homes for Sale in Walden Sub-division - 07:40 PM

Crofton, MD is a terrific destination point for local buyers as well as buyers coming into the area for the first time. Along with a wonderful inventory of homes, Crofton, MD is situated pretty much right in the middle of the Washington, DC and Baltimore corridor. Add Annapolis about fifteen minutes away to that huge plus and you have one of the main reasons buyers choose Crofton, MD. Like many other communities in the area, Crofton, MD is made up of several sub-divisions. Some older, some newer, but all in Crofton. One of the most unique sub-divisions is Walden.
Walden is made … (3 comments)

Crofton MD Real Estate - Crofton MD Foreclosures - 08:24 PM

Homes that have completed the foreclosure legal process frequently revert back to the bank, if they're not perviously sold at auction. While Crofton, MD doesn't have a significant number of bank owned properties, some are always available for preview and purchase. Crofton, MD has had a total of 165 homes that have sold since January 1, 2010. Of these, 13 were bank owned (foreclosure) sales. This equates to 7.8% of total sales. Compared to other communities in the area, this is a very small number.
The process of purchasing a bank owned property is well documented, and varies only slightly from a … (0 comments)

Crofton MD Real Estate - Homes for Rent in Crofton, MD - 08:34 PM

The Crofton, MD rental market is blazing right now. Quality, affordable rentals are very hard to come by. I'm getting calls and emails every day from people looking for decent rentals in the area. Many military families are being relocated and will be working at Ft. George G. Meade, or the NSA. Some as a result of the Base Realignment and Closing initiative (BRAC), and others with their Permanent Change of Station orders.Crofton, MD is an excellent choice for renters. Located about 15 minutes from Ft. George G. Meade, Crofton has a lot to offer both buyers and renters. Crofton has a nice selection but … (6 comments)

Jerry Garcia August 1, 1942 - August 9, 1995 - 03:58 PM
Jerry GarciaAugust 1, 1942 - August 9, 1995 It's not always about Real Estate....Sometimes we have to let our hair down (what's left of it anyway!).
Today, August 1, 2010 would have been Jerry Garcia's 69th birthday.

The man who we all affectionately knew as the "leader" of the Grateful Dead is still beloved by many and is sorely missed by all who were touched by his music. But it was his warm, charismatic personality that earned him the affection of millions of Dead Heads.
I've been front row for many a Dead concert.
I've been backstage for even more.

Helping Relatives Buy Or Sell Real Estate...What's Been Your Experience? - 09:44 AM
In our travels in a Maine real estate day to day operation, from time to time run in to family situations where property is involved. In your experience with family, and we're not talking immediate live in the same household type, but your garden variety first, second cousins, aunts and uncles sort of relatives. How has the transaction gone for you?
Smooth sailing, bumpy flying or never really thought about it now as you look back and take inventory?
At times because the buyer or seller of real estate is family, expectations can be higher from all sides. And some members … (6 comments)
