11 Tips About Blogging (plus 1 bonus) - 12:15 PM
This is a quick one. In and out. They're rules I live by as a full time real estate blogger (part of my job description) going into the sixth year. (Of course, there's much more under the surface of these icebergs.) So here you go with... 11 tips about blogging (plus 1 bonus): #1: I remember it’s the boss and company I'm representing. #2: I shut out distractions so I can think. #3: I let my writing “simmer” overnight. (To read "Blogging and Grandma's Sauce," click here.) #4: I write and write and write some more. #5: I (3 comments)
PALM BEACH GARDENS HOME SALES BRISK AND HOLDING STEADY AS PRICES INCREASE 6% - 05:01 PM
Palm Beach Gardens homebuyers saw a price increase of about six per cent in April, 2011 compared with March prices while sales remained brisk. The median price of a single family home in Palm Beach County increased from $186,500 to $198,800 as more than 1100 homes sold county wide in April. Condo prices in Palm Beach County saw an increase of about eight percent while sales dipped slightly. A closer look at (0 comments)
"The Economy Runs Good When Oil is About $85. a Barrel" - 04:01 PM
I couldn't believe it when I heard his say that. Does it even make sense? Are there that many people invested in oil that it would be healthy for everyone else to dig deep to get to work, school, and stay home during vacations? I find the phone rings more when the prices are lower. Real Estate all over West Michigan moves better when the price of fuel is lower. People come from all over to enjoy our fabulous beaches and rivers. Waterfront is a large draw for tourism. We have some of the best beaches on Earth! In Muskegon, Norton Shore and the (0 comments)

If you’ve been out and about on highway 70 during the last few days, you may have been caught in traffic behind a mule-drawn covered wagon.
Gene Glasscock’s mode of travel is not seen much in our current day and time although a less modern version of it was quite common about 150 years ago. Mr. Glasscock with his white hair (often covered by his cowboy hat) and beard just looks natural with the wagon reins in his hand as he and his mules, Kitty (8 comments)
Memorial Day is almost upon us. What better time to make a donation to help those that have been wounded in their service to our country. I just made my donation and I hope that you will consider making one. Do you have loved ones that have come home from the service to you, their loved family and friends? Some people have not been so lucky. Even a small gift of $20 or less ... given by many will make a huge difference in the lives of the men and (12 comments)
It just stinks that Doug and Steven are leaving. Is there going to be anyone at Active Rain that I will recognize their name a year from now.. or six months from now?? I do wish the best for these two guys because they are two of the best.
Via Douglas Ching (Activerain): If you ask Jon Washburn he will tell you that he is “not a sales person”, but don’t let this fool you! What began as an innocent lunch back in 2009 resulted in me leaving my successful business behind to join forces with Jon at ActiveRain. The (9 comments)

Have you ever had a long, tough day at work where the only thing helping you go through it was the idea of a nice, cold beer at home? How about a long week? I don't know about you all, but some days I have had it with some people I've come in contact with while working! Sometimes people can literally drive you to drink. Well, if you've had one of those long days, or worse, a long week this week, this Saturday is your chance to wind down with beer (and lots (3 comments)
Whaaaaat.......This IS NOT the House I Purchased - 07:59 PM
Whaaaaat.......This IS NOT the House I Purchased If there ever would be a nightmare day for a real estate agent, closing on the wrong house would be at the top of the list of bad days. Yes my friends I ran into this situation this week. And thankfully it was not I that made such a heinous mistake. Can you imagine yourself closing on the wrong house? A long time client is working with me to purchase a home for her daughter. We viewed a few homes, with no luck. I sent her another list of homes of which her and her daughter (78 comments)

Every year, around the same time, in Rising Sun, Cecil County, Maryland the SunFest is held. For those of you who have never been to Rising Sun, Md. it is a town you could miss in the blink of an eye. There is literally, one stop light int he middle of town, at the intersection of Main Street. The Town of Rising Sun, in Cecil County, consists of a Main Street, like most small towns in America do, offering a few tastes of local flavor. There is a Pharmacy, pet shop, little restaurant, Ace Hardware, Doctor's office, Town Hall, and (1 comments)
Keep Smiling, Closings Follow Crazy Days, Amherst NH real estate 2011 - 07:15 AM
I was having a conversation with one of our agents yesterday. She is on the run, buyers here, buyers there, listing photos to be changed, need to change some copy for a listing, oh and those other two listings are coming next week and I haven't eaten yet. Sound familiar?
I can remember days that I just couldn't take one more thing, not one single phone call or question, I would be on the verge of tears. That was before I started Brin Realty and now I have agents running hard. I'm still listing homes and in the trenches, (5 comments)
I called Mrs. Seller and asked if I could come over and discuss the offer with them. She asked me what the buyer did for a living and I told her he was a pilot and the location works perfectly for him. She said her husband was taking a nap but I could come over at 3 PM. I arrive and sit down at the kitchen (12 comments)
Good Riddance To The Voodoo Doll Of Magical Thinking - 01:14 PM
I have been accused of living in la la land a time or two or often, and while I think I am generally positive someone recently said I saw the glass as half empty so maybe there is hope for me yet as a realist with optimism but truly living in the REAL WORLD. There is however a caution for all of us in real estate and in life that I wanted to bring up and I call it Good Riddance To The Voodoo Doll Of Magical Thinking Thinking with a magical sense is not a good thing to do because (34 comments)
Who Is YOUR "Social Media Guru"? - 05:34 PM
My Social Media Guru is Andrea Revenant of 3rd Street Tattoo in Hermosa Beach, California. She is also my youngest daughter. Gen Y at its FINEST! I learn so much by her example!
The Kid is a Natural!
Dustin Luther was my Numero Uno "blog-rules" guy for many years...but let's face it. He's getting old! Time for some new blood! If your Social Media Guru is OVER 30...well as Jack Weinberg said it best "Don't Trust Anyone over 30!" Dustin taught me all about not deleting anything, once it's up it's "carved in stone" and you lose credibility if (15 comments)
ActiveRainPhotoBloggerContest-Winter Respite - 08:15 AM
Winter' Checking in to a hotel for a conference, I was greeted by a cascade of white noise. Since I had arrived early, I went to investigate. I found a veritable oasis. Large green plants and trees, both an elevated and lower seating area, a fountain that led to a waterfall, and a man-made tributary into which it all flowed (and obviously recirculated). The high ceilings of the lobby did an effective job of echoing the sound of the water, drowning out all but the nearest of conversation. The effect was instantaneous. The stress from the drive and of dealing with (8 comments)
Don't punish today's qualified buyers with QRM burden! - 10:21 PM
I am a REALTOR®, working mostly with foreclosure properties. I am on the front lines of both selling and listing affordable homes. While there have certainly been mortgage issues in the past, I know that today's homebuyer with 5 to 10% down is a better risk than the foreclosed homeowners I meet when I am trying to get them to vacate foreclosed properties. Comparing that buyer with today's more-qualified buyer is not an accurate predictor of future foreclosure rates. Most of those people met virtually NO requirements when they purchased those homes with 100% or even 105% loans. Forcing all buyers to (9 comments)
