Mortgage Interest Rate Update - 09:13 PM
Interest rates bumped up about an eighth of a point over the last couple of weeks. The following are some excerpts from this week's newsletter on interest rates from HSH Associates :
"Market interest rates -- including mortgages -- began rising during the last week of June as investors moved money out of safe havens and tried to catch a stock market rise. That momentum pushed rates higher into this week as a result, but the economic news released though Friday has been bleak enough as to at least partially-reverse the increase as we move into next week.

Portuguese Bend Development Lot Owners Win Court Decision - 09:35 PM
An Appelate court judge has ruled that construciton on 16 lots in the Portuguese Bend area may continue without an additional environmental survey report that is required for another 31 vacant lots in the private gated community of Portuguese Bend.  The 16 lots were part of a recently decided court case that required the City of Rancho Palos Verdes to lift their building moratorium instituted because of concern of a nearby land slide area.  In response to the lawsuit filed by the 16 homeowners, referred to as the "Monks" case, the City determined that just a cursory envirnomental review need be … (2 comments)

Real Estate Information 7-9-11 - 09:51 AM
Mortgage Rate Update Time once again to check on the average mortgage rates reported for last week by the Mortgage Bankers Association and Freddie Mac. First up, the MBA said:
Mortgage applications decreased 5.2% so we can expect a drop in home sales in the future The average contract interest rate for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages increased to 4.69% from 4.46 %. This is the highest 30-year rate recorded in the survey since the middle of May 2011. The average contract interest rate for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages increased to 3.79% from 3.64%. I don't remember when it was, but it was probably at least 35 years ago.
My wife then, Sandy, and I bought tickets to see Sammy Davis, Jr., perform at Houston's Arena Theater.  For all practical purposes, it was theater in the round.
Sandy had magically gotten our two seats on the end of the fifth row.  We were so excited that we were going to be able to see and hear him up close.

The Orange County Fair will start in less than a week.  The ferris wheel has been up for several weeks, and every time we drive by, my son wants to know when will it open, and when are we going. I think he's ready for some funnel cake, a few rides and several games.

Walton County FL June Ending Sales Report - 09:06 AM
The Real Trend Report for Walton County Florida and Real Estate Sales Activity just came out.  I love this statistical overview of the county I live and work in.  It is eye opening and usually is so true of what my own personal business is doing.
Surprising this month is the number of new home sales that occured in June.  There were 29 of them as compared with June of 2010 when there were just 20.  This is a one month increase of 45% for this one month comparison.  It is evident too.  I see new homes starting to go up … (1 comments)
