Analysis: U.S. short sales in Jan. rose 33% and surpassed foreclosures for first time in Fla. and 11 other key states. Read more.
Short sales – which occur when a lender agrees to a home sale for less than what’s owed – were up 33 percent in January year-over-year, and preliminary February numbers also look strong, according to market researcher RealtyTrac.

Fla.-owned Citizens no longer sells construction insurance, and buyers pay up to four times more for private coverage. Read more.
Floridacounties that rely heavily on Citizens will feel the greatest impact. High-risk areas such as barrier islands and land within 1,000 feet of the coast already have few options in the private insurance market and will pay most for the new coverage, especially if building is scheduled during the hurricane season.

Open Sunday: New Homes - 11:10 AM

Looking at open houses today May, 13, 2012.  Not a lot of Homes are open today.  Using the Real Living HER Open House Search to find homes?  Look at the date.  There were only 43 homes on the list last time I looked.  Many of those 43 open houses are May 20, 2012.  Or  new home builder's models open during the week.  There are very, very few open houses open today, because it is Mother's Day.

Real estate sales remained steady in April with 620 home sales in Henderson Nevada (down from 645), and a median selling price of $154,700. Single-family homes had 524 sales with a median price of $166,250 -- up over $11,000 from the beginning of the year. Sales and prices were down for condos and up for townhouses.
Here's a quick look at price, volume and financing trends in the Henderson real estate market.

On Mother's Day we always try to do something special for the Mother's at our Church.  So the last couple of years we have started what we hope to become a tradition, serving the Mother's at our Church Breakfast.
The breakfast is cooked by several men of the congregation, and the Mother's are served by their children, both young and old.  Both the men and children find that it is a great way to serve Mother's who serve them all year long, and to try to start their day in a special way.
