We didn’t have to go to Radiator Springs to meet Tow Mater - 04:14 PM
It is true, we didn’t have to go to Radiator Springs or break down to meet Tow Mater, he came to us, right here in Beaverton, Oregon. Every Friday night there is a car show at the corner of 174th and Farmington next to the Dairy Queen and this week were lucky enough to be graced by the presence of Tow Mater himself. He did seem to be the hit of the car show this week.

Knowing Where To Put The Chalk Mark - 05:28 AM
This is an excellent explanation of the "why" some things cost as much as they do. Sometimes the consumer perceives the effort as minimal because the time expended was less than minimal. Rarely is it the length of the process. The knowledge is very often much more important than the time required. Your doctor does not charge by the time although many times we would like to see it happen! Selling a home requires execution of a plan of action. Efficient execution by a knowledgeable real estate agent should not diminish from the skill required. Perhaps a real estate agent should

I've tried a few agents.... - 10:06 PM
"I've tried a few agents but none of them have been able to help me find a home." These were the words I heard from a buyer who called me today. I have to say my "DANGER" flags are waving any time a buyer tells me the've "tried a few agents", but I asked some questions & listened to his story to see if I could help him. I learned several things as Mr. Buyer talked. The most important one being that what Mr. Buyer wanted does not exist in today's real estate market. Words like ..."I want a great deal."

Quick Fix - 05:45 AM
"Tons of leads, lots of connections, fantastic website... and still - NOTHING. What is wrong??" That was the gist of a recent real estate forum post. Here is how to fix it quickly. First, check your market. As they say, you can't ride a dead horse, no matter how great of rider you are. Just like you can't succeed in a dead market. Without supply and demand you can be the world's greatest agent and still be broke. Are other agents listing and selling good amount homes in the neighborhood? No? Time to move on. Yes? Good! Then let's go

Renting in the Times of Foreclosures - 02:22 PM
I have posted Tenants in Foreclosed Properties. Myths and Reality It was about tenants taking advantage of the situation and stopping making payments to the landlord. Here another side to the story. It is about tenants, who learn that the property in pre-foreclosure, and walk away from the lease. Whether they learn it from the landlord or received a copy of the Notice of Default delivered by Sheriff. There is often indignation involved. Tenants blame the landlord. They persuade themselves that this gives them the right to break the lease and leave at will. For the tenant, who terminates the lease,

The Leaves and The Broom - 11:36 PM
I was about 10 years old (don’t worry it was still AD). It was summer and I was spending it with my aunt in Sukhumi, the capital City of Abkhazia, on the Black Sea. My aunt started her career as a teacher, and though by that time she’s been a housewife for the last 20 years, she remembered her true calling and tried to make something good of me, which did not really go all too well. I remember the day when she looked upset. Usually it was because I did not do something that she expected

Fact or Fiction, the Tale of a Renovation - 03:43 AM
The real estate market the last few years has been, at least in my area, inundated with houses that have been bought at a low priced , fixed up and then put back on the market. The buyer now seller's purpose being to make a profit on the property. These investors are most often referred to as flippers. Now I have nothing against anyone making a living by flipping houses, but there are rules involved in construction that have to be followed. Many have to do with the safety and general well being of the occupants of the property. The method

VICTORIA DAY HOLIDAY IN CANADA IS MONDAY MAY 21st in 2012 - 08:50 AM
VICTORIA DAY HOLIDAY IN CANADA IS MONDAY MAY 21st in 2012Many Canadians and most of my American friends may not know why we celebrate this Holiday time in Canada. It gets confusing with all the names previous generations have called the Holiday. Empire Day,Dominion Day, Commonwealth Day and Victoria Day...and known by many as the May 24th Long weekend. So I thought I would help explain the May Holiday in Canada...well most of Canada. All Except the Atlantic Provinces.I looked up the holiday history on the Federal Government web site listed under Victoria Day.....So most of my source of explanation is from

Senate Bill 393 by Senator Murray is scheduled to be heard by the House Civil Law & Procedure Committee on Monday, May 21st. Louisiana REALTORS is OPPOSED to this bill as currently written. Please participate in this simple call-to-action to urge committee members to vote AGAINST SB 393. Click here to easily participate in this Call to Action. Why we’re asking lawmakers to OPPOSE SB 393: SB 393 will cause unnecessary delays in the eviction process. The vast majority of evictions are for non-payment of rent. Can you help me buy a home? - 07:48 AM
The most frequent question I hear from consumers who call me about an ad is, "Can you help me buy a home?" Often the answer is that I probably can't, at least not in the near term. The fact that you wanted to buy a home was about all it took in 2004-2006. It was not uncommon for people who could not afford the rental deposit to instead buy a house with totally empty pockets. With home prices escalating at unrealistic rates, credit was extended to virtually any human who could sign the documents. If you couldn't make payments, there was

Relay for Life at Enka High School was a huge success - 05:01 AM
Relay for Life at Enka High School was a huge success WGNW 957 The Choice and several radio personalities attended and provided live broadcast from the Relay for Life held at Enka High School last night. Heavy rain, thunder and crisp lightning were the star of the Relay for Life event and caused a 30 minute delay in the schedule. After all, you can't have 400 people walking around a football field in those conditions. The storm moved on and everyone came out to support and donate to the "Celebrate, Remember and Fight back against Cancer!" Yes, over 400

Hickory NC: Putting on the Ritz at the Harper House - 08:06 AM
On Saturday, June 2, 2012, the grounds of the Harper House/Hickory History Center will be transformed into a bonafide 1920s speakeasy. Don your glad rags for this festive occasion. There will be jazz music, dancing, hors d’oeuvres, and plenty of activities to entertain all the Janes and Joes. Speakeasies became popular during Prohibition (1920-1933) when it was illegal to manufacture or sell alcohol in the United States. These establishments were secret places for citizens to come and imbibe alcohol away from the eyes of the law. Usually underground, Speakeasies required passwords in order to gain entrance and keep their illegal
