Banks, I don't need no stinking banks! - 01:23 AM
Excuses, excuses, excuses. Every time I'm networking with want-to-be real estate investors, they always have excuses. One of the top excuses has always been, "I don't have money and can't get a loan." Somewhere along the way we picked up the notion that if we wanted to buy real estate there were only two ways. Either we were rich and paid cash, or we would get a loan from a bank. Luckily for me, those nasty little rumors never entered into my brain. Luckily I ignored the mainstream logic and was able to begin building my (soon to be) real estate empire! Back (4 comments)
The Bracelet (Humor) - 05:17 AM
The Bracelet As my wife was admitted to the hospital for a procedure, the clerk asked for her wrist, saying, "I'm going to give you a bracelet.""Has it got rubies and diamonds?" she asked coyly. "No," he said. "But it will cost just as much."
ARE HOME BUYERS IN VIRGINIA SUPPOSED TO BUY A PIG IN A POKE?? - 03:34 AM
VIRGINIA IS A "CAVEAT EMPTOR" STATE in which, if the buyer wishes information about a property, they have the right to have inspections and research the properties in which they have and interest. While the staff at the Loudoun County Department of Health are VERY helpful, owners may also have a history of repair or testing that would help prospective buyers feel comfortable about buying their property for sale. The staff at the county offices will pull the file for properties for sale and if there is a technical question, a staff engineer will assist, however, often the file is sparce. (13 comments)
Why Would A Listing Agent Be Contemptuous Of Fellow Agents? - 05:25 PM
If I weren't so patient, MY HEAD WOULD HAVE EXPLODED TODAY!! What's the old saying? "Patience is a virtue"? Or, is it "Virtue is it's own reward"? Well, being neither virtuous nor patient, wait. . . . I must be patient or my head would have exploded today. Background THREE MONTHS AGO, I got a phone call from a past client to whom I've sold two homes. The first one was about 12 years ago when they relocated to the area from Arizona. The second one last year when they rented the first house and purchased another one, the big house, (50 comments)
Metro Detroit First-Time Home Buyer – Step 1 Meet with a Realtor® - 03:16 PM
Metro Detroit First-Time Home Buyer – Step 1 Meet with a Realtor® The first step in starting the process of buying your first home is to sit down and talk with a Realtor®. This does a few things: You’ll have a lot of questions to ask, I’m sure. I can answer them for you. In the initial consultation, you’ll more than likely be overwhelmed at all the information in buying your first house. Don’t worry about that. I’ll explain everything in more detail as we move through each stage of the process.
Next, we’ll talk about your “wants” (7 comments)
Metro Detroit First-Time Home Buyer – Step 2 Talking with a Mortgage Lender - 03:37 PM
Metro Detroit First-Time Home Buyer – Step 2 Talking with a Mortgage Lender First off, I want to assure you that we can use any mortgage lender you feel comfortable with. If you have a lender that was referred to you by a friend or family member, that’s fine. When this happens, I will give you the option of having a “second opinion” from one of my trusted lenders. This would be a zero-pressure conversation just to make sure that your lender is the best fit for you. If my lender feels that they’re telling you what you need to hear, (4 comments)
Metro Detroit First-Time Home Buyer – Step 3 Looking at Homes - 03:52 PM
Metro Detroit First-Time Home Buyer – Step 3 Looking at Homes This is the fun part! We’ve already determined the areas you want to look, the “wants” and “needs” you want in a home and the approximate price range of the home you’re going to buy. Now what? We schedule a mutually convenient time to go out and walk through some homes that fit your criteria. Bring a pen and a notebook (or equivalent electronic gadget) to take notes! After viewing a few homes, some of the amenities run together. Did that first house have a covered porch or did (4 comments)
Overrated and Underrated. June 3, 2012 - 04:13 PM
Overrated and Underrated. June 3, 2012 Overrated - Vacations. Before you start yelling at me, hear me out. Sure, when you're actually ON vacation, it's (mostly) fun. Sometimes you visit relatives that you might or might not get along with, but it's mostly good. The "overrated" part of the vacation usually comes in 3 parts. Planning. Never fun. No one can agree on the same things. There's always something that one person wants to do and someone else doesn't. The Expense. I work hard. I work a LOT. Vacations can be very expensive, even if you try to budget. Always add (11 comments)
