There is much talk in the media about what may come of the future announcements from our government. There is some hope that interest rates may be cut but in the meantime, they may never come to fruition.

Three reports come out today, 2 have a high impact on mortgage rates and one a moderate. The two high are retail sales and retail sales excluding autos.
The report this morning was bleak. Sales dropped 2.7% which was much worse than the expectation of a 1.2%. When autos are excluded (1 comments)

My phone lines were all red today with repeat clients wanting to refinance to 4.5%. It was all over the news, at least that is what they heard. The word even got a couple of fence sitters moving on purchases.

The FED has announced it would purchase $600 billion of Mortgage Back Securities from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae. This is an act of brilliance by the Federal Reserve and should increase credit availability and lower fixed mortgage rates. Today, already we (2 comments)

There are five reports coming out this week that could move mortgage rates. Three will have a moderate and two will have a high impact on rates.

With the news of the lost jobs, the FED would normally cut interest rates to help boost our economy, but with a FED funds rate at 1%, where is the room to cut again and what impact will this have on interest rates?

interest rates: ISM High Impact on Mortgage Rates - 11/03/08 01:21 PM
Today the ISM index was posted at 39.8% and was the lowest since September 1982! It was estimated we would be around 42 which is far worse than expected. The ISM is based on a survey of purchasing executives of industrial companies. Around 300 are surveyed. This signals expansion when numbers (0 comments)
