NEW ADDITION PROMISES TO BE THE HAPPIEST STORE ON THE PAIA SCENE

 Being happy is the hallmark of the newest store in Paia. So much so, it is named: BE HAPPY...

 "That's just the way I live my life," said store owner Lisa Alo. "If it is worth doing, do it with a smile and a positive attitude. So it is only natural that my business also reflects that philosophy."

 While at first glance Be Happy... seems to be another in Paia's eclectic mix of shops and restaurants, Alo plans for the Paia store to also be a landmark where Maui residents will come to acquire the offerings of local musicians, writers, and craftspeople, a place where musicians will play their latest offerings and authors will sign first editions. The spacious 1,500-square foot store, located next to Moana Café in the old Ikeda Store on Baldwin Avenue, is now open seven days a week.

 Be Happy...promotes the music of Maui musicians. The latest works of Jeff Peterson, Raiatea Helm, Ekolu and Willie K will be found here. And during special promotions, the musicians will be there, signing CD covers, singing some songs, and greeting friends and neighbors.

"One of our specialties will be to promote Maui music and the people who make it," Lisa said. "We have so much talent on this island and except for venues like Manao Radio and KPOA, they get little play time. Be Happy... will make sure that its spotlight is always aimed at them."

Be Happy...also offers a wide variety of books, including works by local authors. The book selection will be wide and varied and for the youngest to the most sophisticated.

 "We have created a place to browse, shop, and listen... a place to relax, have fun and simply chill in the cool air conditioning on a hot Paia afternoon. It is a place to Be Happy!" Lisa said.
