Illinois Real Estate Transfer Tax Proposed Changes - Any Thoughts - 02/28/07 05:32 PM
 The Illinois State Legislature has a Bill pending to increase the state portion (county is $0.50 per $1,000) of the real estate transfer tax from $1.00 per $1,000 to $3.00 per $1000 of sale price for properties in the $500,000 to $1,000,000 price range and $7.00 per $1,000 in the $1,000,000 to $3,000,000 range. That does not affect a lot of people; however, tweaking the law is not to difficult once passed.

Salesman Pre-License Real Esatate Class, Illinois - 02/23/07 07:37 PM
If you have an interest in obtaining a real estate license in Illinois, my next class begins February 27, 2007 and ends April 3, 2007. This is a classroom course and is the required Illinois 45-hour salesman pre-license course.
Registration may be done via email, or there is a premium for registering the night of the course. The class is Tuesday and Thursday nights, 6:00 to 9:30 in Palatine, Illinois.

So You Think You Want To Sell Real Estate - Now's Your Chance - 02/09/07 05:05 PM
Real Estate Pre-License class for Ilinois is scheduled for February 27 through April 3, 2007. This is a classroom scheduled event of the required Illinois 45 hour pre-license course. This is an evening class on Tuesday and Thursday. After successful completion of this class a student will be able to sit the Illinois state exam for salesman licensure.

Lake Michigan Water Usage Part II - 02/09/07 04:32 PM
Back on February 1st I did a blog on Lake Michigan Water useage in the Chicago area and the $100 million surplus in the coffers of the Dupage Water Commission. The Chicago Tribune on February 9, in the Metro Section ran a story about the "Dupage Water Rate is Lowered.
Pretty Good. Huh! They must have been scared by my blog, you think.

Well folks, the sky is falling in 2007. Da Bears lost. I know everyone was pulling fro Da Bears so that 2007 would be prosperous (when NFC team wins Super Bowl economy grows).
It is now an uphill battle for Realtors to drag up the economy by ourselves. However, the Colts deserved to win because they were the better team in the contest.

Housing Un-Bubble in 2006 - 02/01/07 12:58 PM
 
Well we have survived, those that are still here, the 2006 housing un-bubble. There are some shorter ranks in the real estate agent category, but I am still receiving applicants for my Illinois pre-license classes in the Chicago area. So the report on housing in Illinois, Illinois Housing Statistics for 2006 by Illinois Association of Realtors paints a picture that we were already aware of. Unless some were asleep. Yet this is just a bump in the road.
Some may remember the late 70's and 80's where interest rates were pushing 20%. Myself and other collegues in Illinois still made a living at this … (0 comments)

Lake Michigan Water - Must be Gold - 02/01/07 11:09 AM

The Dupage Water Commission has a surplus of $100 million from collection of fees for delivering Lake Michigan water to communities in Dupage County. The charge for Lake Michigan water is $1.45 per 1,000 gallons. Apparently that is too much, vis a vie the surplus. Villages, Bloomingdale for one, and some others have gone on record for a reduction of the fee plus a return of some of this surplus.
How does this affect the average homeowner?  Example: 
                       Assume 14,000 gallons per month
                        X            $1.45 per 1,000
                                      $20.30 per month
A reduction of $0.25 per 1,000 gallons would save $3.50 per month … (2 comments)
