    <title>Wayne, Illinois a History Synopsis</title>

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;The Village of Wayne, Illinois (formerly Wayne Station) was formed in 1836 when Henry and Eunice Hemenway staked their claim straddling the &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;West Branch of the Dupage River&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;and Army Trail Road. It is believed that the township of Wayne is named after Major General Anthony Wayne who had won the Northwest Territory by defeating a group of Indian tribes near Toledo, Ohio in 1794.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;Mark Wentworth Dunham, youngest son of Solomon Dunham one of the earliest settlers in the area, inherited his father&amp;rsquo;s 300 acre farm after the senior Dunham&amp;rsquo;s death in 1865.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;Mark Dunham began the Oak Lawn Farm Importing and Breeding business and by 1883 had grown an prospered. He added a new wing to his farmhouse as an office. The completed family residence is now known as Dunham Castle at the northwest corner of Army Trail Road and Dunham Road.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;Around 1927 Wirth Dunham and his sister Bernice began a corporation to subdivide the approximately 2,000 acres they had inherited from their father, Mark. Solomon Dunham&amp;rsquo;s red brick farmhouse was leased to a group of residents in 1934. They organized the Dunham Woods Riding Club and used the building as their headquarters.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial;"&gt;A referendum was passed , 95 to 87, on September 13, 1958 to incorporate the town. One of the first topics of the new village board was to pass the adoption of a zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;    </content>

&lt;p&gt;Labor Day usually signals, at least in the Midwest, the slow down in real estate market activity. This year has given off some strange signals similar to 2003 and 2004. Given the current national condition of the financial markets, it is difficult to talk about up-ticks in real estate activity. However, my activity has picked up.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Maybe I haven't seen all of may chickens yet, but I don't think the barnyard is going to get any bigger. So I must have missed some in the hen house.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I think the market will improve through the end of the year, because there are homeowners who have been sitting on their homes who have refused to sell at fire sale prices.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;The slogan of the company that knows you&amp;rsquo;re&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;strapped for money to pay your bills, implys that you are destined to continually beg for money. Your vote in November can end that situation or perpetuate it. Elementary teaching sometimes needs seasoned teacher&amp;rsquo;s interpretation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;You may own small investment property. Properties such as 2-flats, 4-flats, small apartment building (6-flat to 24-flat), property containing your business. Perhaps you have inherited some real estate.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Whatever, current tax law provides some protection to that income that may be crucial to your continued survival.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Your voting decision in November will &lt;em&gt;directly influence &lt;/em&gt;your bottom line (your 1040 expenses or revenue). How so?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;It&amp;rsquo;s good to talk about taking more money from people of great wealth; however, taking more money from Millionaires or Billionaires doesn&amp;rsquo;t fill the government&amp;rsquo;s coffers because there are not a lot of them. The real money is in those Thousandaires. Any modification of tax policy to take more money from these folks also must include taking more money from the little guy who can afford it less.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;The raising of the tax on your sale of small investment property has already been forecasted by Obama&amp;rsquo;s tax policies. Acceptance of Obama will compromise your intentions to raise yourself above the fray. You make investments in stocks or real estate to keep up with inflation and possibly get ahead. Today&amp;rsquo;s paycheck doesn&amp;rsquo;t do that. Today you can defer tax payments until after your death; Internal Revenue Service&amp;rsquo;s&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;paragraph 1031 enables you to transfer capital gains into your pocket and to your heirs. If you can not postpone your gain, presently you only pay 15% on the long term gain. Obama proposes that his tax policy will raise this number.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Tax policy of the Democrats benefits those who weigh in to their patronizing politics. The Democrats in Cook County Illinois have successfully created the highest sales tax in the country to keep the machine running on all cylinders.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Whom ever inherits the White House in January, either one is handed the Bush Legacy and must deal with it in their own way. Obama learned his politics in Illinois and people tend do things as they have learned to do them in the past.&lt;/p&gt;
