 Price Cuts Spur Home Sales
Largest Monthly Gain Since 2002, but Economists Warn of Sluggish Season Ahead
U.S. home sales registered their biggest monthly jump in nearly seven years in December, as cratering prices began to draw out more buyers and several major housing markets showed some signs of stabilizing.
The 6.5% rise in sales from November was attributed in part to strong sales of foreclosed homes.

Good News Bad News - From the market.
We seem to be half way through which is a good thing, though to improve things may still go down. After returning from Europe I realized we have to focus on the fact that we live in the best country in the world for freedom and opportunity. It is our choice and responsibility how fast we get through these tough times.

Federal Funds Could Help Stall Forclosures In Douglas County - 01/15/09 02:35 PM

The struggling Douglas County housing market could get a shot in the arm if the county receives a $3.7 million grant through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
Data given to the county showed Douglas County with the third greatest need for funds behind Henry County, which is eligible for $6.1 million and Bibb County, which is eligible for $4 million.
"Funds are based on foreclosure data, mortgage loan data and other factors," Development Services Director Mark Teal said at a public hearing last week.
The plans budget, Teal said, could allocate $224,655 of the grant to administration funds leaving $3.5 million. … (0 comments)

On-line registration at www.WinstonBaseball.com available through January 8th. In-person registration in the Winston Elementary
School Library on Saturdays, January 10th and 17th, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. for youth ages 4 - 14 (birth dates of May 1994 - April 2006).
Winston Baseball is also providing an Adaptive Baseball Program for children 14 and under with special needs at no cost. Bring birth
certificate for age verification for all registrations.
