I started my journey to become a realtor almost 6 months ago, and I had the opportunity to submit a buyers offer for the first time.

I am extremely grateful for the company I am working for and I feel accomplished, but now it is a matter of creating more leads for more business.

How long do you think it took to really get your business into a regular flow?

Running

Good Morning,

I love running, more than I ever have in life, I love running. Today because we have to take Grace to the doctor, I took the whole day off and so I got to run with the whole family this morning, It was great!

Cary and the surrounding areas have such a good trail of greenways and parks that running is safe and fun.

So that brings me to my next point, do you use your blog on Active Rain for only professional, professional and personal, or personal with a twist to professionalism. I like the idea of networking and sharing my thoughts, but I feel like I should be constantly moving it back towards why I am trying to promote myself.

Thoughts?

Post Washington DC and Getting Caught Up

Happy Sunday,

It is amazing how fast real estate can move and at the same town how slow it can seem to go.

I spent the last week in Washington DC with 300 eighth graders and chaperones and it was a great time. It sure was tiring, but it was fun. We would wake up at 6am and go, go, go until 9pm. We saw just about everything we could see and the kids did great.

Washington DC is a beautiful city and if it was not for the traffic, it would be a great alternative to Cary, NC.

I love Cary and I am so glad my wife and I found this place almost 3 years ago so that we could buy our home and start our family.

The whole area of Western Wake is chock full of options in entertainment for young adults, singles, families, and seniors. The schools are the best in the area, and we have access to first rate museums, universities, hospitals, plays/musical, and sports.

I am loving being a Realtor and I know that my career in this can only go up, and the fact that I can do this and continue to teach is an answer to a lot of prayers.

Ohh Happy Tuesday! Buyer/Seller To-Do List

Today it seems like one of those days that you know is going to be good from the very start. I have been singing and my 8th grade students are certainly looking at me like I am crazy, but I am okay with it.

Tomorrow 280 of them and myself along with 4 dozen other adult volunteers and teachers will be heading for 3 days of tours in Washington DC.

It is definitely a beautiful time to be buying and selling homes, today in Raleigh it is going to be close to 90 degrees, so you have to ask yourself, when was the last time I had my A/C unit tuned up, it is amazing how much efficiency is lost when things are not maintained.

Here is a great to-do list for the Spring/Summer Season and whever you are preparing to sell your home. I also use this list with my buyers to see if the sellers have maintained the property before we put in an offer.

Spring / Summer Home Repair and Maintenance Checklist

Windows and Doors

Repair cracked windows

Putty, caulk or add weather-stripping as needed

Clean and lubricate window channels for smoother sliding

Clean and install screen windows and doors

Basement

Check for and seal cracks and leaks in walls and floor

Clean vents and ensure proper operation

Test, clean and lubricate sump pump

Discard accumulated junk

Smoke Detector

Test and replace batteries

Porch, Patio and Deck

Clean and seal deck

Check wood for signs of rotting, replace boards where necessary

Take out outdoor furniture

Exterior Walls

Check for missing or loose siding

Caulk joints and minor cracks

Look for deteriorated finishes to preserve wood

Touch-up painting or paint entirely

Repair brick & mortar damage

My First Active Rain Blog Post

I wanted to use this first blog to tell you all about myself. In real estate it is extremely important for you to be able to trust your agent and what better way to start than with some background information.

If you are buying a home you are making one of the largest purchase you will ever make, and if you are selling you are a part of transaction that involves thousands of dollars. It can be scary and overwhelming, but with my help, I will make it as easy and comfortable as possible. I am licensed broker and Realtor and will use my resources to help you in anyway that I can.

My wife and I have lived in Cary for the last 3 years. Like most people in the area we are transplants. We met at Ohio University 9 years ago and made it to the Triangle via the Western North Carolina Mountains.

We are both certified teachers, I teach eighth grade science and my wife had taught first and second grade up until this past fall.

In October, we had the pleasure of welcoming our first child. To say our lives have changed would be the understatement of the year. Being a dad has been the best and I am thankful for my Grace everyday.

I have had experience in real estate for the last 5 years and have decided to make it a full time commitment so my wife is able to stay home with our baby girl.

I like to hike, run, camp, basically anything outside is good with me, which makes real estate a great profession.
