A Product For Comparison! - 08/28/07 09:59 PM

  Back in 1974 my husband and I built our first house in Barrington NH.
  We were able to qualify for a program called Farmers Home Administration now known as Rural Housing. We were approved for an un-subsidized loan for $25,000 at 8.5%. With that money we were able to build a 24x36' full dormer-ed Cape on 1 acre.
The house required a lot of "Sweat Equity" We cleared our own land!

And stained the siding by hand! The house had an unfinished second floor which we studded, sheet rocked and finished ourselves!

  We sold a mere two years later for … (18 comments)

A NH "Energy Star" Home- Is It Worth It?? #2 - 08/25/07 08:44 PM

  This is a series focused on The DOE's & EPA's Energy Star program. I will present information on Construction, Energy Savings, Energy Programs and on other Eco techniques such as Landscaping
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Not so long ago....Energy Conservation was a "Fad" the savings values were understood, but to most home buyers not of major importance!
 My how things have changed.... it's not a "Fad" any more!
  Energy Costs have skyrocketed and the Environment is of great concern to most. This realization has increased a interest in Energy Usage, Heating, Cooling, Air Quality, "Green Space" and Recycling an interest in all Environmentally Friendly Behaviors!
  There are savings to be realized in building … (27 comments)
State of New Hampshire-Market Trends And A Silver Lining - 08/24/07 08:08 PM
  Well the August report from NHAR is out and there are actually a few unexpected turns!
  Sales are down 10% from the same time period last year. Surprisingly Prices have only dropped 1% Statewide and in 4 counties have stayed the same or even risen!
  Some experts say that perhaps one reason Sellers are reluctant to lower their expectations....is that they may be close to a Negative Equity situation and don't want to be in the position of possibly having to bring cash to the table!
Concord New Hampshire Realtors-Give Back - 08/22/07 09:27 PM
  Several members of the Concord, New Hampshire Board of Realtors-CBR (and several Affiliates) spent the better part of today helping with  the Red Cross Blood Drive.
The Blood Drive was held in the Activity Centerof St. Johns from 10:00 TO 4:00. There was no lack of volunteers....serving food, registering donors and spreading goodwill! There were even several raffles (to the delight of the donors)
  Just another example of what we can do as Realtors to connect with and further  serve our   Communities. Another way to help our Realtor Image!
  It's also a way to have just plain fun!
Energy Star Is Alive And Well In New Hampshire#1 - 08/20/07 06:46 PM
 Are you in the market for a new house?
 Will you be building? Have you considered an Eco Friendly home?
 Energy Star is a National, Voluntary program developed by the EPA. The program promotes Energy Efficient Products. Energy Star Homes meet the EPA's guidelines and receive third party verification from accredited organizations.
 In addition to the Enviromental Gain aspect...ES construction will reduce monthly operating costs, increase home owner comfort and result in potentially higher resale value.
 Here in New Hampshire the Program is not only alive and well....but is growing!
 One program of mention is NHSaves.com. Their Mission Statement is "NH Saves is about people in … (10 comments)
  Relocating means Change. Changing Schools, Changing Doctors, Locating New Service Providers. This can be overwhelming when combined with the actual physical elements of moving!
  It is difficult enough for children and parents when there are no physical or emotional obstacles. But if you have a child who does now or may potentially need Special Services, and you will  be in an area you are totally unfamiliar with....Where do you start.
  Here is some information that should put you on the right track!!
  Here in New Hampshire we have a wonderful Organization known as PIC (Parent Information Center)
Kids Are People Too!! - 08/09/07 09:59 PM
    People move for all sorts of reasons: job changes, family size, neighborhood changes, divorce, financial concerns or  just for adventure! And even though they may have had some input into the process..children do not make the final decision! Consequently,  for your children,  Moving can be very Traumatic!
  The most important step you can take, with children of all ages, is to tell them what is going to happen...as soon as possible. Involve your children in the process. Assign some tasks related to the move allow them to be invested in it. Help them to own it!
  Younger children adjust more easily after … (30 comments)
Fido's Got Feelings Too! - 08/07/07 09:01 PM
  Moving is an Exciting yet Stressful process! All the Planning and Organization, Packing, Labeling and Storing your worldly goods can keep you pre-occupied for months before the big day!
  But don't forget Fido and Fluffy! Moving can be especially Traumatic  for our furry family members.....
  I don't know how it is at your house? But, at mine the minute the maroon travel bags are set on the bed...They Know! We are followed from room to room and we get the guilt inducing "how can you leave us" looks. And that's just for an overnight!
  For your pets....Moving is "gone for the weekend trauma" … (28 comments)
Godizilla vs. The Smog Monster - 08/04/07 04:37 PM
  I just finished watching an old Monster Flick "Godzilla v. The Smog Monster" (1971)
Basically this one featured the Smog Monster who feeds on air pollution and sludge and spews sulphuric acid on his enemies! His defenses are really put to the test when he is confronted by Godzilla ...the Savior of the Village. Godzilla has Atomic Breath that enables him to Fly. But when the Smog Monster resorts to releasing a toxic beam of energy, projected from his right eye...Godzilla is forced to activate the Human Erected Electronic Grid that sends ultimately Lethal Currents...lethal for the Smog Monster that is!
What Do You Do? - 08/03/07 05:02 PM
  How do you see yourself and what you do?
  Do you see a Wheeler Dealer buying and selling no time to stop....gotta make the numbers? Or do you envision an Exclusive Agent working with only the "Best" of Clients in the "Best" of Neighborhoods? How about as the Commercial King/Queen dealing with the Big Players or the Tecno-genius who really knows how to reach out to the Internet Savvy crowd-do any of these fit you?
  We all are trying to find our niche'. That place where we best fit and that best fits us. And for your profession to … (20 comments)
