I have to admit, until I joined Active Rain , I didn't concern myself with the Green Movement. The most green that got my attention was ....That, plus the fact that green is my favorite color! Not that I don't care about the Environment, or Global Warming or Endangered Species. I just didn't think about it too much.... Well being on Active Rain, especially the Echo-All Stars, has changed my sense of observation. I now see Green Everywhere! Those of us living in New Hampshire have been offered a unique opportunity! Segway Inc. of Bedford (Hillsborough County) New Hampshire has introduced a program to purchase renewable energy credits. These can be recieved for every Personal Transporter bought in 2007. The program seeks to replace the electricity a Segway rider uses in one year in order to charge is /her Segway. The electric energy used is estimated at 200 kilowatt hours. This will be replaced with electricity from renewable sources such as solar, wind and geothermal! I have been working on my contribution to a class on Codominium Associations to be held Tuesday 4/17/07 at NHTI in Concord, NH. While researching the issue I have come across a lot of information on "The Condos of The Future". A HUGE stalwart of the Condos of The Future will be Technology.There is a joint study in Cambridge Ma. by MIT and TIAX.This initiative is called PlaceLab. PlaceLab is a one bedroom condominium that people volunteer to live in and be observed. Last Friday I went to a Fund Raising Seminar for Non-Profits in Manchester, NH. The Executive Director of PIC and I went to get some "tips" on how to (hopefully) increase Charitable Donations and Philanthropy. We were also looking for guidance on how often to solicit, what form should the solicitations take and how should they be acknowledged? What does this have to do with Green???You may ask??? Well oddly enough, when talking about solicitations and mailings....the conversation evolved into talking about Paper and Perception! Who knew?? you can go Green, save money, and make your customers Happy! I subscribe to Readers Digest on line. It must be the Spring Season but everyone is thinking Green !! They have devoted an entire issue to the subject. Not only about being Green but how to do it in relationship to Home Ownership! One article is about "How Living Green can save you $5000".
