"Miss Kerri, this won't come off," said King Woods, who was working on a Dunelt bike.  
"These old bikes, it's always a tight fit with the forks," Kerri Martin replied, handing the 14-year-old Woods a screwdriver. "Wiggle it down."
The wiggling worked, and Woods continued on his repair job.
"I'm a bike doctor," explained Jack Pitzer, who was working on an Electra Townie 7D. "I'm taking bikes and giving them a second life. I give a diagnosis, get them treated and send them home."
He smiled. "We never lose a patient."

A state appeals court has struck down a critical portion of the $1 billion redevelopment plan for Fort Monmouth, a move that threatens to stall plans for the use of the post.

The now-disbanded Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Planning Authority ran afoul of the law when it created its plan for affordable housing on the fort's 1,100 acres, the Appellate Division of Superior Court said in a decision handed down Wednesday.

Low Inflation Keeps Mortgage Rates Relatively Flat This Week - 11/05/10 11:10 AM
Freddie Mac today released the results of its Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS), which found that the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rate rose slightly for the third consecutive week. The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage rate eased back down a little while the 5-year and 1-year ARMs set another low.
30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 4.24 percent with an average 0.8 point for the week ending November 4, 2010, up slightly from last week when it averaged 4.23 percent.  Last year at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 4.98 percent.

Although the funding has not been secured and the permits are not in place, Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider said he is excited about the different options the city has for the planned pier and ferry terminal. In an interview following a wide-ranging presentation on the pier at the Oct. 25 City Council workshop meeting, Schneider was enthusiastic about the possibilities for the project.

Assembly Gives Final Approval to Private Transfer Fee Ban, Bill Now Goes to Governor - 11/02/10 11:00 PM
NJAR® secured another victory in its efforts to ban private transfer fees in New Jersey. On October 25, 2010, the General Assembly unanimously approved A-2861, legislation that bans the use of private transfer fees (PTFs) on newly constructed properties and creates new disclosure requirements for existing properties where PTFs are in place. THANK YOU ZOMBIES! The outbreak in Asbury Park did in fact BREAK THE WORLD RECORD. Before the Halloween Weekend, the Guinness Book record for the ‘World's Largest Gathering of Zombies' was 4,026. WIS International Inventory Services, a non-partial 3rd party who counted each individual zombie that walked into the beach ‘quarantine zone' gave us an official count tonight of 4,093 zombies!
