Seattle Pride Parade 2011 - 06/27/11 10:40 AM
This Year Seattle Pride Parade was viewed by 400,000 people of all shapes,sizes and colors. Rainbow flags, umbrellas, boas and Mardi gras beads were abundant. There were Grandmothers and small children celebrating the freedom we possess to be who we are. As one gentleman proclaimed as the parade kicked off "We love our children, just the way they are"

The Gay Pride flag flew proudly atop our Seattle landmark space needle. A feat achieved by raising $50,000. for charity by the gay community. The event was harmonious and joyful, and a good time was had by all!

This week when I popped into Seattle Aquarium on one of my walking journeys through Seattle, there were buses out front to signify a school event was participating in the fun excursion of "Life on the Edge"

What better way to spend a Sunday than to climb aboard vintage motor yachts? We walked to Bell Harbor Marina to enjoy the Classic Yacht Association's Rendezvous Celebration to view these fine wood hull designs and cast a vote for our favorite.

 
There were too many amazing vessels to fit into one post, so this 30 second clip is the elegant BELLE, a traditionally designed 50' bridgedeck cruiser.

Full Moon At Dawn From Seattle - 06/16/11 12:36 PM
My first awakening was at precisely 2:22 a.m. I rose and walked to the windows to take my first look at June's full moon. I am never disappointed by my first glimpse of the moon shining down on the harbor, bathing it in golden light, so brilliant it chases any signs of drowsiness from my mind.

At dawn, I saw the ferry make it's way to the Seattle dock, freight moving slowly toward the harbor, and Alki across the bay waking to a brand new day.

On a particularly sunny day, my husband and I went on a walkabout adventure in Queen Anne, one of my favorite Seattle neighborhoods.

Seattle Aquarium is hosting a photo exhibit by Daniel Beltra titled "Gulf Oil Spill"
I walked to the Aquarium to view the exhibit and share it with you. The photography was magnificent and the man made devastation is crushingly evident.

Seattle Art Museum is one of my favorite places to pop into during the week. As a member, you can enjoy year long entry to the museum, plus private exhibits and special events.

There is an exhibit on display at Seattle Art Museum called Home to Go, made up of plaster, marble, dust, wood, tile and rope. The artist is Albanian born Adrian Paci, born in 1969. This gift from the Contemporary Collections forum in 2008 is always worth stopping to ponder...

The ingenuity of Man...is how I see it.

Today in Seattle, the sun was shining brightly on the water, as people from all over were here in droves to enjoy all that the waterfront provides on a perfect Northwest day!
Sailboats of every size made a grand appearance and raced through the afternoon. 

A man and woman harmonized contemporary angst laden love songs under a yellow canopy on Pier 57, as the sun danced on the water like thousands of jumping golden fish.

Two gargantuan cruise ships bid us farewell as evening sets in and glided most gracefully out of the bay to another destination...

Some days, it is nice to get out for lunch! I work from home quite a bit and a great break is a walk toward Pike Place Market for lunch with my husband.

Today, we decided to take in some Greek at Sabra. A simple, authentic hideaway tucked behind Market shops.

This family owned lunch stop is simple and offers some of the finest Gyros and stuffed grape leaves I have found.

We love to go during the week when the back patio is all ours and we can relax for a while before heading back toward home!

Waking up to sunshine on Elliot Bay this Saturday morning is only the beginning of what will inevitably be a wonderful day.
As the cruise ship passes by the silhouettes of downtown high rises, I observe the snow still clinging to the mountain tops as an amazing contrast to the greening of Alki Beach across the bay. Today looks like a great day to walk inside Seattle Aquarium and show you something strange, eerie, fun and beautiful…

This Seattle Aquarium exhibit is entitled The Ring of Life.  As you approach the glass arch filled with dozens of Jellyfish a color wheel emits light on these unusual sea creatures turning their transparent bodies every color of the spectrum.

No one can resist standing under the twelve foot high ring of life and the feeling of floating in space with colorful creatures.
