Scam Alert!!! - 12/24/08 11:27 AM
This newsletter from the San Francisco Elder Abuse Forensic Center, a partnership of the City of San Francisco and the Institute on Aging, alerts us to a scam on lotteries. There is some good information in the newsletter on the topic. You may want to pass this along to your senior and adult children clients. http://campaign.constantcontact.com/render?v=001IUWadrqrRJC8tZ01ATHNRPV-lG1pqnZNPZRmq_smGzTejWLowmnFFWBUPCBTrE5TTpwiqQYq1Jmfxu2XjdPVmVI2Fr6jIKS541epMmoANss%3D If anyone wants more in depth information on scams and how to prevent them, I have a resource with the state of CA that does presentations in the state. This applies to not just seniors, but anyone. Topics include ID theft, credit card scams, lemon (2 comments)

It is written for Certified Financial Planners (CFP), but I think there is enough useful information in it that Realtors with senior clients, or adult children of seniors would be interested in. I suggest you check it out: http://www.fpajournal.org/CurrentIssue/TableofContents/ThePrntCreSoltionHwPlnrsCanHelpClientswithAggPrnts/ While the article is specific for CFPs, it does bring out the point that Realtors need team members, such as CFPs, to aid them in extended service for seniors. The 800# gorilla in the room that nobody talks about - 12/04/08 09:10 AM
If I asked you what the number one concern for our nation will be in 10 years, you'd probably list things like Social Security, Medicare, the economy, health care, and retirement security. But I'll bet no one even thought of long term care (LTC). I'm afraid that LTC is the 800# gorilla in the room that nobody talks about. Why not? One word...denial! This is important, nay critical, to both your clients, and you and your family. Why? Because if one doesn't plan for LTC in their future, it could ruin everything that they planned for. It could devastate your family. (1 comments)
