Deciding whether or not to have an open house is one of the first conversations you should have with your realtor --- before the term of the listing begins. This tactic should be part of the overall marketing strategy for your home and it should be included with a specific goal or purpose and most importantly, frequency of these events should be decided --- UPFRONT. Spring or Summer? Which Market is it... - 07/20/07 09:05 AM
A recent post by George Paindes, Esq., of Southborough, MA ( I wish I knew how to link here) inspired me to expand on the topic and my comments to him on his blog. Summers are historically slow here in Bergen County, New Jersey. In fact, not one to take vacations during the fall and spring, I usually schedule some time off with family during this time of year because buyers and sellers seem to be on a similar schedule.

While visiting LBI this past week, my husband and family did what we always do on vacation --- check out real estate! Sound familiar? Yes, of course, we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. But, we could not help picking up the local classifieds, magazines and went to visit an open house or two. It helps me put our market into perspective by checking out business in other areas and it is always beneficial to chat with local realtors about their business. It is a great networking opportunity. And, if you listen, you will always learn something.

To Blog or Not to Blog --- what is real and what is not - 07/10/07 08:55 PM
I have noticed, recently, that quite a few members of active rain actually write their posts on their blog. The posts are insightful, thought provoking and even helpful. I think that the creation of the written word is soooo important to the world of blogging. Writing, helps readers understand the personality of the writer and helps them capture a glimpse of the world of the author as well as helps the reader understand, perhaps, another perspective or point of view on a subject.
It does amaze me that others, however,  do not write in their own blogs. They continuously "cut and paste" … (15 comments)
