When I first started real estate about 6 months ago I was in hog heaven. I couldn’t believe that this was my occupation now. I didn’t have any District Managers breathing down my neck, Regional Vice Presidents critiquing my every move, or even a CEO who visits once a year asking you why are there cigarette butts in the parking lot. I thought I would never see the day when I set my own hours and I determine how much money I can make this year………....so I thought. I always thought by being a Realtor® I was considered to be an independent contractor for whichever office I decided to hang my license. Sure I have a Broker that is responsible for most of my actions out in the field, and every so often I have to answer to, but technically I am my own boss. I don’t have to punch a time clock. If one of my daughters have an awards ceremony or an elementary school dance to attend I can be there. I don’t have to worry about asking for time off or finding someone to work my shift that day.

Well my fellow bloggers, reality has struck. I have found out that I still do have a boss and I still have to punch in and out (kind of). Although I can still attend my daughters’ extracurricular activities, the freedom I thought I had is gone. I almost was thinking about going back to dealing with the District Managers and the CEO’s after finding this out. I still determine how much money I want to make this year, but it better be a sufficient amount of money or I will be terminated.

Well I better wrap this blog up before I get caught and my boss threatens to get rid of me. I am sure most of you have probably figured out that my new boss is Mrs. Williams, my wife.

Oh oh here she comes. Got to go.

Have you ever had clients that were constantly late for appointments? Better than that have you had clients who didn’t show up for appointments only to call you 3 hours later apologizing until you can’t stand it anymore. That is what I… more
