Revisiting the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost

Good Morning Everyone.

I am re-blogging one of my first blogs I wrote in October 2007. The poem "The Road Not Taken" has always been one of my favorite poems and thought I'd 'revisit' it again this morning.

This poem always has a special meaning each time I read it.

Hope you enjoy it this morning.

Kay

The following is the reblogged post from Kay Perry:

The classic poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost has always had a special meaning to me as it probably has to most of us. In our life we face many crossroads where we must make decisions which direction to go. Whatever choice we make, we must live with it or make changes in our lives to get back on the 'right' path. We need to be wise in our decision which road we will take and ask God for guidance. He is the only one who can guide us to the right decision. Unfortunately, many times we forget to ask for guidance. We have all made good decisions and bad decisions. But even so, we learn lessons in life no matter which decisions we make. For those who haven't read the poem in a long time, I have included it below. Enjoy and have a great day.

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN

by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveller, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then I took the other as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy & wanted wear;

Though as far that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same

And both that morning equally lay;

In leaves no step had trodden black

Oh I kept the first one for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way

I doubted if I should ever come back

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages & ages hence;

Two roads diverged in a wood and

I took the one less travelled by

And that has made all the difference

What is the "RE BLOG" Function on Active Rain?

This morning when I logged on, I noticed something new to me. What is the 'Re Blog" image inside our blogs?

It may have been there for a while, I don't know. But I just now noticed it. Why would we want to re-blog our own blog?

Could someone please explain?

Have a great weekend.

Olympics Opening Ceremony on TV Tonight Is Spectacular!

My husband called me into the living room to watch something spectacular on TV....the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. I am not an avid sports/Olympic person but who knows - maybe this year I will learn to love the Olympics. After all, those who have followed my blogs know I learned to love football last year....so anything is possible.

I was amazed at the LCD screen and thousands of people who had to be so precise in each and every movement. Wow! It must have taken a lot of practice and even more patience. The native costumes and the history is wonderful.

The only thing that is not good is that so many in the world are making it 'political' and protesting. Let's just enjoy another culture and the games. Since security is on high alert, I hope nothing bad happens. There are so many innocent people there. And, we must remember that every country, no matter what their beliefs and actions, have ordinary people living there just like us.

Question: Since China is in a different time zone, are we watching it 'live' or delayed? Someone said we are 12 hours different. Anyone know???

I Reached 100,000 Points Without Knowing It!

For those who read my posts regularly, you will notice I've been 'away' from the Rain for awhile. This time for a fun reason. I've been visiting friends and family every chance I get during the last few month.

Since March 17 I was recovering from open heart surgery anyway, so I thought I'd enjoy my friends and hobbies until I got ready to go 'full steam ahead' again...... So now I am ready. I have been having fun and now it is time to work.

I was surprised to notice that I had finally reached the 100,000 mark in points on Active Rain. I am happy. Could not have done it without all my Active Rain friends being behind me and making comments. I personally thank each and every one of you for making this happen.

This is why it is so important to read other people's blogs, make comments, keep in touch...... In life, sometimes bad things happen to us, no one is exempt. We all have hiccups in life. It is important to make friends and encourage each other.

Peace and love to all. Thanks so much for being there for me. Have a great week.

My Personal "Bucket List" ~ What is YOURS?

Last week I wrote a blog on the movie "The Bucket List." Many of my readers sent me a beginning of their bucket list....things we want to do before we die.

I started jotting down some of my ideas and thought I'd share them with you. Of course, the list is never going to be complete.

Here's my list in no particular order:

walk in a clear spring in the Hill country near Austin, Texas. As a child, we did that all the time.

go back to Branson, Missouri, to see even more of the shows and sites. Last time, I actually rode a helicopter and loved it.

go to Galveston, TX, to Moody Gardens. Native Texan and I've never been.

go back to Washington, D.C. to see some of what I missed before.

go para-sailing - for those who know me, that would be a major adventure - fear of heights!

take photos of all the houses I have lived in since a child to present - lots of them.

complete the family tree on my Mother's side. I'm stuck in 1820 on that one.

go to the Great Lakes - never been there.

travel to the rest of the U.S. - I've already been to Alaska and just about everywhere.

Of course, I know I don't have the time or the money to do all this...but that's why we DREAM....

So, what is YOUR Bucket List.

Have a great day.

Tonight we Watched "The Bucket List" Movie

Since there was nothing of interest to us on TV tonight, we decided to rent a movie. I wanted to see "The Bucket List" with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman so that is what we got.

It was a wonderful and thought provoking movie. I won't explain the movie in case some of you haven't seen it but it made me think about making my own 'bucket list' - a list of all the things I want to do before I die. Since I don't like to fly and have limited money, my list will not be long. There are many places in the U.S. I'd like to see and many inexpensive activities to do.

I'll have to start making me a list. One on my list is to go back to Branson, Missouri. I'll have to think on the rest.

What would be on YOUR bucket list?

An Interesting Show on TV Last Night

My husband and I are very bored with the reruns and shows offered during the summer season. We are ready for some of our usual shows to come back on starting July 13. Remember, this is what hubby and I do for a time to be together. We talk about the shows and relax each evening.

Last night we ran across one we don't usually watch. I think it was called "So you think you can Dance"...please correct me if I am wrong.

There was a 62 year old man named John on it that beat out all the young people. Since that is my age, I was really excited to see him win. He turned to dance when his doctor told him to do cardio aerobic exercises...so he decided to learn cardio Hip Hop. He twisted and turned and did a wonderful job of dancing. It's amazing what he could do and never got out of breathe when the youngsters did. That inspired me to find a dance for me to exercise to.

Did anyone else see this show and what did you think?

There's a New Treadmill in Our House ~ Now it's up to us!

My husband and I wanted a threadmill for a long time. Since I had heart surgery in March, the doctors told me I really needed to excercise every day and a threadmill would be best for me since I am not going to walk in the heat in Texas and I'm not going 3 times a week to a gym.

We researched the different brands on the Internet, comparing features we wanted and decided one of the NordicTrack ones met our needs.

Now it is up to us to use it. So far we are both doing well. Walking on the threadmill could save or prolong our lives so here we go....walk....walk....and walk again.

How many of your actually use the threadmill? I hope mine does not gather dust like the rest of the 'stuff' we bought years ago.

What form of exercise do you find most effective for your health and lifestyle?

This morning I showed someone a house. The streets of Bryan and College Station had very little traffic on them, which is unusual for us. I saw one family riding bicycles with their children. That was nice to see...something free for the family and an adventure in nature.

I DID notice, though, the groceries stores seemed to be doing a booming business just before lunch. Guess some people were doing their last minute grocery shopping for an outdoor bar-b-que.

I don't know about you, but it's just too hot to be outdoors in central Texas today.

HAVE FUN TODAY. Take a break to be with your family.

Have A Happy and Safe 4th of July

When my girls were young, we always went to the lake to swim and have a picnic. We really enjoyed it. Now that they are grown, we just stay home and relax...which is a good thing also.

Many of you will probably go somewhere to celebrate the holiday and shoot fireworks. Please drive safely, be careful with the fireworks, and ENJOY yourselves and the time you have with friends and family.

What are you planning to do for the 4th???

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY......

Best Use of Our Family's Money

Each family is different in what is needed to make life more simple. We are at the age where we are trying to make our life a little simplier and a little easier.

We found hiring our yard out to the mowed each week is the best use of our family's money. It frees up my husband's time so he can do other chores around the house. As for me, I don't know how to start a lawnmower and would die of a heat stroke in the Texas heat.

What is YOUR best use of money?

My Dogs Sure Have a Wonderful Life

Kadee and JoJo have the most wonderful life. They are both indoor dogs even though they are large. Kadee is a Golden Retriever and JoJo is a Border Collie.

We even put wood laminate throughout our entire house to make the house easier to clean. It is so funny to watch them run and slide around the corners of the hall because there is no traction on the floor. JoJo, 3 years old, runs so fast, his little legs go everywhere when he turns each corner. Kadee is a senior and can't run as fast.

And...toys....wow those doggies have a tons of toys. JoJo carries one around in his mouth almost all the time. Their weekly excitement comes on Tuesday and Thursday when the trash man comes around making all that noise with their big trucks.

My home office is in the front room of our house and they have windows to look out of and watch the world. What a life, someone feeds them all the time, they have no worries, and they get to sleep all day.

Whoever says 'treats them like a dog' sure didn't meet my two dogs.

Of course, I know if I ever sell my home, I will have to move out first before I attempt to sell it...but it's not for sale.

"Indiana Jones" Movie Series

I can't believe it's been 20 years since the 3rd "Indiana Jones" movie. Here it is twenty years later and Harrison Ford can still work his magic in the fourth "Indiana Jones" movie.

Looking back over my life, it just doesn't really seem like twenty years...wow time does go by quickly, especially when you are having fun.

Haven't seen it yet but as soon as it is on DVD, I will rent it and watch it at home. For those who have seen it, is it another great movie with Harrison Ford? I just love him in any of his movies.

What Will YOU Be Doing on Memorial Day Weekend?

Memorial Day weekend sort of stuck up on us. I just realized it is this weekend instead of next. But it didn't change our plans since we have no plans. So the dogs, hubby and I will just stay home and be together.

I know this is the weekend many families take off to go to the lake or out of town. When we were younger we always went to the lake to swim, boat and have a picnic. That was fun. Our kids were small then. I remember all those ants that would always find out table...ha. It's just not the same now that our kids are grown and have their own life and plans.

Everybody, whatever you are doing, ENJOY it.

TV: Season Finales are Here This Week ~ Back to Reruns and Summer Shows

We spent every evening in our home watching TV to have quality time together. We have so many favorite shows and this week and next week are the season finales. What will we watch over the summer?

Looks like "CSI - Miami" may have either new stars next season or have no next season. Does anyone know?

One of my favorites "Lost" is over next week. That is one show I never know any more from one week to another. Keeps me on my toes. I hear there will be two more years of it.

TV Update: "Dancing with The Stars" & "American Idol" Winners

"Dancing with the Stars" had some outstanding dancers this year. It was really hard to know for sure who was going to win. All season long, we thought Christie or Jason would win. We actually wanted Jason and his partner to win because he did very well and of course, he is a NFL football player. However, we knew that Christie was almost perfect and would be hard to beat. So Congratulations Christie.

"American Idol" also had some of it's great talents this year. Of course, I was for Brooke (because I love country music) and for Jason because he is an Aggie and I am too. But I must admit, the last two were great. David A's voice may have been a little better but he was not as versatile as David Cook. I think David Cook deserved to be the winner.

Now we will eagerly await the next seasons for these two shows.

Right now is the best time to go shopping or out to a restuarant because there are less people in town and on the streets.

But it won't be long and they'll be back. Personally, I love the Aggies and I AM an Aggie.
