Could luxury houseboats come to Lake Chelan? - 09/26/08 12:52 PM
Houseboats have sure changed since last time I was on one!  These ultra luxurious vessels often have 4 bedrooms, multiple full sized bathrooms, every conceivable entertainment gadget and can be 100 feet long!  Vacation rentals of these vessels are popular on many lakes and waterways.
Could they come to Lake Chelan?  Apparently regulation on various waterways is what typically limits their size.  Lake Chelan has moorage and launching challenges.  But, money can be made renting multi-million dollar homes to vacation renters, so there might be pressure to solve such issues.
I posted about this on the Chelan Real Estate Blog where you … (0 comments)

Proposed Urban Growth Boundary for Manson Agreed upon - 09/22/08 06:07 PM
The Manson Sub Area group adopted an urban growth area and agreed to land use designations as well.  There is still some discussion pending on wording and use charts for some of the zones in the Manson UGA.  The group will forward the recommendations to the Manson Community Council.  After that, the Chelan County Planning commission weighs in on the topic and finally, the Sub Area Plan goes before the Chelan County Commission for adoption.
You can see what was adopted at the Chelan Real Estate Blog here:

Foreclosures Increasing in Lake Chelan area Market - 09/19/08 02:55 PM
Even in the picturesque Lake Chelan Market, there is an increase in foreclosures.  Even so, the number is still very low compared to many parts of the country with 8 scheduled auctions as of this writing.  However, that is the highest number of foreclosures I've seen in the area with 1 or 2 being typical.

After a dismal July performance that was only 21% of the 2007 number, August somewhat recovered to 85% of the residential closings of last year.  The average sale price was down a bit, so the dollar volume was about 74% of 2007.
