All Utah Home Inspections ARE NOT Created Equal!

Many Utah home buyers are often confused by what specific services a Utah Home Inspector provides. Many home buyers are under the impression that home inspections are like property apprasials where-as the services are basically the same despite which home inspection company is used. Such thoughts are FAR from the truth. Choosing a Utah Home Inspector can be one of the most important decisions made throughout the home buying process. A poor quality Home Inspector can potentially cost you thousands of dollars where-as a high quality Home Inspector can potentially save you … (0 comments)

Ogden Utah Home Inspections in The Spring

It's been a rough Winter for Ogden Utah Homes. The number one cause of damage amongst Utah Homes is moisture damage. The number one tool used to detect and document hidden moisture concerns is Thermal Imaging. If you're considering buying a home in Ogden, Utah or any part of Utah, an Infrared Home Inspection is an absolute necessity in determining the true condition of a home. Every Utah Home Inspection should include Thermal Imaging but unfortunately only about 5% of all Utah Home Inspection Companies provide Thermal Imaging technology. Utah Infrared Home … (0 comments)

utah: When Searching for a Utah Home Inspection - 10/07/12 04:56 PM
When Searching for a Utah Home Inspection
When considering a home inspector in the State of Utah, there are MANY VERY important things to take into consideration. Utah is one of the few States that doesn't require any specific licenses or education requirements to become a home inspector. This can pose as a great danger to new home buyers who aren't aware that not all home inspections/inspectors are created equal.
There are plenty of out-of-work contractors, plumbers, electricians, etc.. that will be glad to offer you their opinion of a home along with a punch-list inspection report for a very cheap … (1 comments)

Detecting Moisture During Ogden Utah Home Inspections

This is one of the best times of the year for an Infrared Home Inspection. We've had a REALLY dry Utah Summer so now that the rains have started coming, moisture intrusions are easily detected during an Infrared Home Inspection.
Moisture is the #1 source and cause of damage on Utah homes. Detecting moisture early is the key to preventing damage and costly repairs. Thermal Imaging is the best technology available for home buyers to get the most in-depth analysis of a home prior to purchase. Thermal Imaging can literally save a home … (0 comments)

utah: Attn: Real Estate Agents in Ogden, Utah - 12/31/11 03:54 AM
I'd like to take the time to ask you to consider adding me to your list of referred home inspectors in 2012. Please allow me to explain how I can benefit you and your clients.

FIRST OF ALL, I AM VERY WELL AWARE OF THE HARD WORK AND TIME YOU HAVE TO PUT INTO EACH AND EVERY POTENTIAL SALE. I UNDERSTAND HOW SOME INSPECTORS CAN LITERALLY "KILL THE DEAL" BY NOT REALIZING HOW TO PROPERLY INFORM THE BUYER OF CONCERNS IN A NON-ALARMING FASHION. SOME HOME INSPECTORS SEEM TO CAPITALIZE ON HOW MUCH STUFF THEY FIND WRONG AS IF IT … (0 comments)

utah: What's hidden behind your walls? - 12/19/11 09:03 PM
While preforming Infrared Home Inspections, home owners are often surprised when I can show them things about their home that they never knew existed even after years of living in the home.
I usually get the same response "WOW, that is amazing! I wish we would have known about Infrared Home Inspections before we bought this house" Well the good news is that now they do know about Infrared Home Inspections.

Ask if your Layton, Utah Home Inspection includes Thermal Imaging

Thermal Imaging is the only way to see the true condition of a home before the purchase. A conventional flashlight home inspection is essential but thermal imaging is equally if not more essential in determing the true condition of a home. Don't try an pick and choose between these two inspection methods but instead find a home inspector that is certified in both home inspections and thermal imaging.

Many home inspectors offer thermal imaging at no additional charge so using a non-infrared inspector is paying for … (0 comments)

utah: Junk mailers to Ogden, Utah have become my sworn enemy! - 12/08/11 06:24 PM
The amount of junk mail being delivered to my condo has become so excessive and irritating that I have now claimed junk mailers to be a sworn enemy.
My mailbox is nearly crammed solid every single day with gobs and gobs of marketing junk. I don't even browse through the enormous amount of junk but should I ever happen to see a companies name listed within it, I promise to not ever use that company again.
I am declaring war on junk mailers. I am in search of weapons or ideas to help launch an attack. If anybody has any … (1 comments)

utah: Utah Roof Inspections on snow-covered roofs - 11/14/11 10:23 PM
Utah Roof Inspections on snow-covered roofs

When having a Home Inspection during a Utah Winter, it's not uncommon for the home inspector to exclude the roof inspection. Technically a home inspector can omit a roof system inspection in the Winter due to the snow cover. In my opinion, the roof is one of the most important components of the home. A new roof can easily run over $10k which puts the roof as a high priority inspection item. Luckily an Infrared Home Inspector can give a much more in-depth analysis of a snow covered roof.
By doing an Infrared Scan of the … (1 comments)

utah: The most common defect found during Ogden, Utah Home Inspections - 11/11/11 10:27 PM
The most common defect found during Ogden, Utah Home Inspections

The lack of DOWNSPOUT EXTENSIONS. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY.

Most home owners pay little attention to their downspouts. The majority of Ogden, Utah homes lack any form of downspout extensions at all which basically defeats the entire point of having gutters.

Many home owners assume that since they have new gutters or nice gutters that their downspout extensions are sufficient. Such assumptions are wrong. Downspout extensions aren't usually provided by the gutter installation company because anything past the lower 45 degree angle is considered landscaping.

utah: Utah Radiant Heated Flooring, Ceilings, Sidewalks, and Driveways Should Be Inspected Before Winter - 11/11/11 08:05 PM
Many homes and business's throughout Utah have radiant heat system defects that have gone undetected.

Radiant heating systems are installed in many floors and ceilings of homes throughout Utah. The continuous hot water supply pipes for these type of systems are not visible to the eye and are unable to be monitored (on a continuing basis) in order to ensure that the piping is always functioning properly and continues to remain leak-free. Something as important as (concealed) radiant heat piping should always be monitored on an annual basis. An unknown radiant heating system leak can waste energy and … (1 comments)
