utah infrared home inspection: All Utah Home Inspections Should Include Infrared Inspections(Thermal Imaging) - 01/28/11 08:47 AM
All Utah Home Inspections Should Include Infrared Inspections(Thermal Imaging)
All Utah Home and Building Inspections should include Infrared technology. Utah Infrared provides thermal imaging services with every home and building inspection at no additional charge.
Less than 5% of home inspectors use Infrared Technology due to the high costs of Infrared Cameras. At Utah Infrared, we don't believe in charging our clients extra for a service that we feel should already be included. As a matter of fact, we want … (1 comments)

The bad news is that moisture can get past some of the best moisture barriers and sealants on the market. The good news is that moisture CANNOT HIDE FROM OUR … (0 comments)

Air Sampling for Utah Mold Inspections I often tell Utah home owners they don't need to hire me to tell them they have mold. Every single house in Utah has mold. We eat mold in our cereal and on our burgers and for the most part it's harmless. If your wanting to know if you have mold than you can go to Home Depot and buy a mold testing kit for $14 bucks or you can just take my word for it. Many times I'll see mold in a home but rarely ever will I write up the home as having … (2 comments)

The Utah Home Buyers How To Inspect Your Own Air Conditioning Unit Guide, by Power Check Infrared Home Inspections Lets face it, many folks are trying to get by with saving every dollar possible. As a home inspector, I reccommend people have their air conditioning units inspected before every summer season. I realize few if any people are really going to actually pay to have something inspected when it's not broke. That would be like someone taking their car to a shop when it's running perfect and asking the mechanic if he can find something wrong with it. The fact is … (0 comments)

Make Sure Your Home Inspector Provides a Quality Deck Inspection For Your Safety.

According to The International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, more than 2 million decks are built and replaced each year in North America.
InterNACHI estimates that of the 45 million existing decks, ONLY 40% are completely safe.
One of the most common defects I see during Utah deck inspections is wood-to-ground contact(shown below) causing rot and deterioration.

Another deck defect that appears to be common with Utah home inspections is improper attachment or anchoring to the home(shown below). This deck is simply nailed to the … (0 comments)

utah infrared home inspection: Hopefully This Builder Was Drinking On The Job! - 08/16/10 08:27 PM
I can understand missing two nails, possibly three nails, but FOUR IN A ROW!!!

Notice the four nails (in a row) penetrating the floor sheathing and completely missing the floor joist.

This builder was either terrible at his job, drunk, or just didn't care.
During this Layton, Utah Home Inspection I found about 30-40% of all the floor sheathing nails to be completely ineffective and serving no purpose.
If you live in a Layton Utah home and your floor squeaks in nearly every room than you may be a victim of this drunk construction worker, haha.

Ogden Utah Hot Springs Infrared Inspection
When we're (Power Check Infrared Home Inspections) not providing Infrared Home Inspections, we always seem to find other cool uses for our high resoloution FLIR infrared cameras.
I stopped by our local hot springs located in the Ogden Canyon to take a few infrared images.

As you can see, some of my fellow Ogden citizens had beaten me to the most popular spot
