The True Measure of $uccess... - 02/28/08 01:31 PM

I read a post yesterday that inspired this post. The post actually talked about how we deal with failure but it got me thinking a great deal about what we view as Success. As I write this post, I am celebrating a week away with my wife in Mexico. Don't worry this is my first and probably only post on vacation. It is in the evening and we are sipping coffee and watching TV. Better yet, I have her permission.
The measure of success for many all too often is MONEY!  Society seems to pay homage to dollar signs. A person … (8 comments)

Inappropriate complaining.. - 02/22/08 03:48 PM

Life is way to short to spend it angry. I get upset just like anyone else from time to time. Often, I look back later and realize it was foolish to be so upset over something so small.
It is important for me and for you not to MAJOR on the MINORS. The little things, like being cut off in traffic or having to stand in line or waiting an extra 4 minutes for our drink at Starbucks rather than the usual 30 to 45 seconds. Why bust a vessel over something so small.
SAVE THE RAGE! If you must get angry … (18 comments)

Will Ferrell in Austin. - 02/18/08 03:00 PM

I love watching Will Ferrel in action. Just looking at him makes me laugh. His Movies are great comedy. Saturday night live has not been the same without him. If you did not see his movie "Stranger than Fiction" you should rent it. Although we see him in this movie in an unfamiliar role as a more serious than funny man. He does an outstanding job.
Will made it to Austin Texas. Could it be time for you to take a look?

Moderate or Indifferent? - 02/17/08 02:32 PM

TALK ABOUT POLITICS AND CAMPS WILL DIVIDE. The right move right the Left move left and is there a middle?
It is certainly populated. It is difficult to imagine there could be a middle ground when the subject is not Republican or Democrat but rather Conservative or Liberal.
The republican party does not have a monopoly on conservatism nor does the Democrats party have a monopoly on Liberalism. Both parties have broad appeal for a variety of reasons.
Conservative and Liberal are for the most part on extreme opposites. In order to find a common middle it would be necessary to be somewhat … (11 comments)

Chasing train wrecks... - 02/16/08 02:28 PM

Got cha! Good title isn't it. In our home we use the term "train wreck" to describe the kids rooms or the game room or at times the kitchen. We usually follow up the usage of the term of some hard work to improve the situation or clean the room.

My wife and I have been very busy lately and so Our bedroom has been a bit neglected (which is not normal, my wife is a clean freak).
My son entered the room the other day as we were getting ready to run out the door. He just shook … (21 comments)

Small Business Opportunities in the Austin area... - 02/10/08 02:01 PM

Have you been wondering if you could do better as the Employer rather than the Employee?
Whenever the economy goes through a difficult season, there are layoffs, cutbacks and hire freezings in the jobs market. While companies worry about their bottom line, hard working employees worry about how much longer they will hang onto their jobs.
Have you thought about looking into owning your own business? A great way to take control of your personal economy is to buy a small business. A small business that has been managed well and has a good reputation with its clients can be a very dependable source … (0 comments)

Happy Valentines Day to “My Love” - 02/05/08 09:08 PM

My Love..... (Click the Pictures to hear the songs)
In the Summer of 1981 I fell in love for the first time with a girl named Michele.  Over my high school years and at college, I dated several interesting and lovely young women, but it never felt like this. In fact, I had never used the word love in describing any of the relationships. I would say I liked them. They were special but it did not reach to the level of "Love". Men do not usually admit this but I am a romantic at heart and a number of songs come … (21 comments)

Real estate could heat up where you live are you ready? - 02/04/08 11:00 AM

Real estate could heat up and their may not be a lot of warning. We moved to Las Vegas in May of 2003 based on what I saw happening in the jobs market and the numbers of people moving there. No one could predict what would happen over the next 9 months. So what prompted that market craze?
Two things drove the market place in Vegas in that 9-12 month craze.
First there was a shortage of available secondary market homes. The first thing we noticed upon arrival was that there were few homes in the secondary market that met our … (6 comments)

Bubble Squatters - 02/03/08 01:05 PM

A recent article by Lance Winslow aka the car wash guy had the term Bubble Squatters in it. He defined this group basically as those who bought low and sold high during the recent Real Estate craze. They may now be sitting on a lot of cash and renting waiting for the market to go down again in their area.
Although I believe the lion share of buyers in that market did not make the right part of the curve, it got me to thinking about what we could see happen in real estate this next year.
Some blogers write to … (9 comments)

Austin economy spanks the competition
Austin Business Journal
High-tech, a booming film industry and the University of Texas all helped propel Austin to the top of Forbes' 2008 list of America's Fastest Growing Metros.
The magazine ranked Austin No. 1 among the nation's 100 largest metropolitan areas. The list sorted cities by their anticipated gross domestic product growth between 2007 and 2012. Austin's GMP, or the value … (7 comments)
