This weekend holds the Downtown Denver 2011 Parade of Lights! The Parade of Lights is Downtown Denver's annual spectacle of holiday cheer, festivities, and of course millions of Christmas lights! This is always a 2-day event with one parade on Friday and another on Saturday. Another day, another signal that the market for newly-built homes is improving. Single-Family Housing Starts rose to a seasonally-adjusted, annualized 430,000 units in October -- a 4 percent increase from September and the highest reading in 3 months. The Federal Open Market Committee begins a scheduled, 2-day meeting today, the seventh of its 8 scheduled meetings this year, and the eighth Fed meeting overall. The FOMC is a 12-person sub-committee within the Federal Reserve. It's the group responsible for setting the nation's monetary policy and is led by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
