Governor Hickenlooper has declared January as Colorado Radon Action Month. The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment is providing coupons for reduced-cost test kits at www.coloradoradon.info. Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas created by the radioactive decay of uranium in the soil. Long-term exposure is the leading cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers and the second leading cause of lung cancer in smokers.
