The beauty of the Olympic Peninsula - 10/30/08 09:57 PM
Ok, so I admit it, I'm a brat. I'm the only child of a retired Navy Master Chief, so I guess that makes me a Navy brat. I grew up moving and travelling. Born in San Diego, I've also lived in Italy, Florida, Georgia and finally Washington State. I've seen many places. I have also made a hobby of travelling for pleasure, across the United States, throughout the Caribbean and Central America and Europe. I travel every chance I get, however I don't have any desire to move away from the beautiful Puget Sound. I love it here.

Our weather is changing.... - 10/30/08 09:06 PM
Today is a rather gray day here in the Pacific Northwest. A little cooler and drizzly. Our weather is changing. Gone are those lazy days of summer, although as a real estate agent, who really has time to be lazy?! Soon, our clocks will "fall back" and the days will grow ever longer, ever darker.
I find that things tend to move fast this time of year. As we move into the holiday season, there is always so much to do. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, (you name it,) then onto New Year's and new beginnings.
I think I am an anomoly, I … (4 comments)

How low can they go? - 10/30/08 05:39 PM
Gas prices that is...
I read and commented on another blog last week regarding the falling gas prices across the country. I've promised to dance a jig (and video tape it and post it here) if and when the prices in my area go below $2.00/gallon! Well, I'm getting my dancin' shoes out and shined, cuz the prices, they are a droppin'!
I filled my tank today. I was on empty, and I filled 'er up. I drive a pretty big rig, and up until recently it took almost $100 to fill up. Today (drum roll please) UNDER $50.00. WooooHoooo!
I … (0 comments)

I was forced to do it! (A review of "Strangers") - 10/26/08 04:00 PM
Ok, so if you read my last blog, you know that I am not a horror movie lover. As a matter of fact, I avoid them at all costs, except during the month of October when by compromise, I am forced to endure them. Check out my blog for more details of my suffering!
Well, last night I was forced to endure "Strangers" with my husband and some friends. Let me set the stage for you. We were in a very large house on Tee Lake which is a very remote part of rural Mason County. Now, since it's so remote out there, … (6 comments)

Horror movies... yet another thing we do for love! - 10/25/08 04:20 PM
Yep, I said it. Horror movies. Another thing we do for love.
By we, I mean me!
It's that time of year again. Halloween. The witching hour. All Hallows' Eve, and all that jazz.
Just what am I going on about? Let me take you back a bit and explain myself.
I married a man who loves horror movies. All horror movies. He's a Twilight Zone freak. (Yea, I said freak) And a Hitchcock obsessive. (And I do mean obsessed!) Jason, Micheal, Freddy - you name it - he loves them. The Ring, The Grudge, Scream, Saw (what are they up … (6 comments)

Newest Way to "Go Green" - 10/25/08 01:28 PM
Everyone is thinking about "Going Green" these days. And everyone knows the general ways they can do that. Recycle and use recycled products, use green cleaning products, conserve energy - you know, the usual.

I'm starting a blog series about a new way to "Go Green" that affects homeowners, builders and real estate agents.

Reducing energy usage with Home automation!
Sound like something out of a Sci-Fi movie? Well, it's hitting the main stream. There are products available that allow a homeowner or builder to create an automated environment inside the home.

Stay tuned, I'll be touching on … (0 comments)

A Realtor's work is never done... - 10/23/08 11:56 PM
Ok, so how many of you have "those clients"? You know the ones. They call you a month after closing to ask how to turn the hot tub on. Or if you can come over and help them set the alarm. A few months later, your phone rings, and you are asked if you can refer them to a painter, a doctor or a candle stick maker?
Don't look at these calls as interruptions. Instead, look at them as opportunities. An opportunity to build relationships. An opportunity to expand your network. An opportunity to make your business stronger.
So while it's … (8 comments)

Trick or Treat! - 10/23/08 06:15 PM
I am looking forward to Halloween so much this year. I've always loved Halloween and this time of year. The change in the season and weather. The heartier foods we cook. Bringing the fall wardrobe out of storage and shopping for a few new key pieces. Wearing boots! But this year I am looking forward to Halloween itself! This is my first Halloween as a mom.
I'll be taking my 5 and a half month old trick-or-treating. She's too young some say - well I say "phooey!!" She'll be all dressed up (as a chili pepper of course, if you knew me, you'd … (3 comments)

A perfect day - 10/23/08 02:41 PM
Another amazing day for the record books. Yesterday, I woke up to the sounds of my beautiful 5 month old daughter playing and talking to herself in her crib. I wandered upstairs and opened my blinds, only to be greeted by the amazing sunrise over the Olympic Mountains. What a breathtaking site. I enjoyed a cup of coffee and bowl of cereal and logged onto Active Rain.
Yesterday was not a work day for me. It was my birthday. And no, I won't tell you how old I am.
I showered and got ready for my day. Went into the office … (3 comments)

What it means to volunteer - 10/23/08 12:32 PM
As I scanned Active Rain first thing this morning, I ran across a blog about a meet and greet at NAR next month. I am reminded of my first NAR conference. It was 2 years ago, NARdi Gras in New Orleans. Wow, that event woke up something inside me!

I was new to the business, having only had my license less than a year. But, I have family in the New Orleans area and the volunteer efforts of NAR were especially interesting to me. So I booked my ticket, made hotel arrangements and packed my bags. The only other person … (4 comments)

Well this is a bit new to me... - 10/19/08 02:27 PM
While I love to blog, this site and blogging for real estate related issues is new to me. But, this is right up my alley. I do love to talk! :) And for those of you who know me, know that for sure. I'm excited that I found this site and now have a new opportunity to connect with other professionals in my field!
I'm excited about Fall, and the fresh new outlook it brings. There is a crispness in the air. The leaves are changing into brilliant shades of red, gold and firey orange. It also means the holidays are … (5 comments)
