Dan Neil - The Next Steps The Texas  House committee chaired by Joe Straus appointee Republican Todd Hunter, looking into the recount election in District 48 has voted unanimously that Democrat incumbent Donna Howard of Austin won the election. As stated by Dan Neil the committee "ruled that we did not meet the standard of clear and convincing evidence". As of now Mr. Neil will take a couple of days and decide whether or not to withdraw.

As reported in the North Texas Navigator: Texas classroom teachers are losing their jobs by the droves…Save Texas Schools is planning a rally for this Saturday in Austin (March 12) to pressure Texas Legislators not to cut school spending…Texans Together is behind this rally.
Wait what is the real story........
As you can see from their Facebook wall they are rallying the troops. Just like we are seeing in Wisconsin, unions and community organizers are busy in Texas.

Time to TAKE A STAND! Sign the Rainy Day Petition!

"If school districts will cut expenses in the right places (e.g., administration, consultants, expensive systemic database/curriculum programs, teacher in-service, curriculum directors, etc.), there is no reason why classroom teachers must be laid off and certainly no reason for us to borrow from the future using the Rainy Day Fund.

Please listen to this YouTube snippet of National Education Assocation’s (NEA) General Counsel Bob Chanin in 2009 in a segment entitled “It's Money & Power, Not Education.” 
 
Now for the good news:  This next article is from 2.26.11 in which the NEA admits it has lost more than 54,000 active K-12 members in one year’s time.  The NEA has decided to double members’ dues to make up for the shortfall.
