What is or would be the perfect home inspector??? - 02/24/09 10:58 AM
Ok, I've asked this question many times in my market and now I'm tossing this survey out to everyone in this community. What is or would be the perfect home inspector? There isn't an incorrect answer. This isn't going to be difficult, but when were done we'll create a list of the good, the bad, and the ugly. You might be surprised what some inspectors are doing and begin to wonder why your inspector isn't doing or providing you with the same level of service/product. This will be a learning experience for everyone. Remember, we all survive from referrals and please (2 comments)
Arrow of Light - A Proud Moment for Parents - 02/23/09 10:08 AM
Scouting hit our home over the past few years and my wife and I have had the pleasure of watching and assisting our son Andrew work hard while earning his ranks and badges during this time as a Cub Scout. The last few weeks have been the pinnacle of Andrew's hard work in Cub Scouts. It started many months ago when he earned his Bobcat and later working his way towards being a Weblos I & II. Hard work and dedication and remaining on track paid off for Andrew. Three weeks ago Andrew was awarded the Super Achiever Award. This is presented to (4 comments)
Activerain Rainmaker Stamp - 02/22/09 10:42 PM
Ok, I am officially confused. I have been following the changes in activerain this past week, but when viewing some posts tonight I see some people have an Activerain Rainmaker Stamp on their photo in their profile and some don't. It just happens that I don't have one of these fancy stamps. Can someone please clarify this for me. It was my understanding that if I was an active member contributing to the community prior to Feb 16th I would be Ok. Did I miss something or are there going to be two levels of memberships in the community for those who were on (47 comments)
Western New York Home Inspector Talks About Home Repairs - 02/22/09 10:17 PM
Western New York Home Inspector John Villella, of All Pro Home Inspection, comments about if homeowners should attempt a repair or use a professional to do it right. John Villella, owner of All Pro Home Inspection cautions homeowners about completing repairs on their own. It's always recommended that the homeowner only attempt repairs if they have the technical knowledge and tools to do the job properly. All too often homeowners attempt to do repairs only to find themselves in a much worse position - even if they get the task completed. Many times the non-professional repairs are completed only to end up costing additional money or even continued deterioration or damage to the system or building (0 comments)
Lockport Thunder/Lightning U10 Soccer Update - 02/15/09 09:38 PM
It's Sunday and it's time for the weekly update for the Lockport Thunder/Lightning U10 boys and girls soccer teams. The Lockport Lightning girls didn't play today... they'll be back in action on Thursday night. The Lockport Thunder U10 boys team dominated today against the Kenmore U10 boys. My son had a couple of assists and played goal the first half giving up zero goals. The Thunder remain unbeaten with just one tie and remain in 2nd place just a half game out of first. Until next week - Here's to your best week ever, may everything you touch turn SOLD, John (2 comments)
Lockport Lightning/Thunder U10 Soccer Update - 02/09/09 05:58 AM
WOW, another week is gone and another win for the Lockport Thunder U10 Boys. The boys were unstoppable on Sunday and posted a 10 - 0 win. My son finally scored his first goal of the season... remember he plays the majority of the game playing defense or in goal. He was happy to get the goal, now his sister won't be on his back about scoring. The boy just keep on getting stronger as each week passes. Good job Thunder! The girls played well again this week with a win over Tonawnada. The girls remain in second place with just (0 comments)
Was it luck or just good inspecting knowledge? - 02/05/09 10:47 PM
I had an interesting inspection today that revealed the usual things - some electrical cleanup needed in the basement, you know missing cover plates, loose wiring, a drip at a supply line and a leak found at the tub drain. The usual stuff you would expect to find in a 78 year old home. As I was checking each building component and system I couldn't help but wonder why the chimney had a water stain running from below the vent pipe. Remember, this is a 78 year old home that has several stains that are commonly seen in homes of similar (7 comments)
Lockport Lightning/Thunder U10 Sosscer Update - 02/02/09 10:27 AM
Sunday was a busy day for the Lockport Lightning and Thunder U10 girls and boys soccer teams. Let's start with the Lockport Lightning U10 girls. The Lightning advanced another game in the win column with as strong outing against the Niagara U10 girls. Lockport posted a 5-0 win. My daughter picked up 3 points this week with three assists. The win moves the Lockport Lightning U10 Girls team to a 3-1-0 record. The girls are improving with each week. As I stated in past posts this team is very young with 8, 9, and 10 year olds making up the 10 (1 comments)
