Influential Women's Summit

Over this past weekend (July 11th-13th 2008) I attended the Women's Council of Realtors Influential Women's Summit and it was amazing. The events started the evening of the 11th with a welcome reception which gave us a great opportunityto network with several hundred Realtors from across the Nation. Saturday morning was kicked off by a Most Influential Women in Real Estate Panel that was moderated my NAR's own Pat V Combs. These women gave insight into how they got to where they are, truly amazing!

The rest of Saturday and Sunday were breakout sessions with topics such as: From Sales agent to Manager~is it in you, How to become a woman of influence in your community, The web 2.0 and so many more. Robin Waters also addressed us on a topic she calls The Hummer and The Mini which discussed trends and counter trends.

All and all it was an amazing event with top notch speakers.

Storm season is fast approaching and there are several things the Citrus County Sheriffs Dept would like you to do.

1.) go www.floridadistaster.org and print out a disaster plan for residential and commercial. It is a really neat program. You fill out the info and it will print you out exactly what you will need during a disaster.

2.) go to www.sheriffcitrus.org and sign up for code red weather. If there are any storms or tornados approaching you will get a phone call at any number you choose (home, office, cell).

3.) Visit any Sheriff Sub station and pick up your re-entry sticker. Each area has a different color and number, if you have been evacuated, you will not be allowed back in your neighborhood without the sticker.

Women's Council of Realtors® District VII Forum

On June 17th, 2008 District VII in Florida (Citrus, Hernando, Marion, Lake and Gainesville) will host their District Forum at the Plantation Inn in Crystal River FL. It is a jam packed day from 10am-3pm with a trade show, Mary McKnight will be speaking about blogging and State President Rosemary Mahoney will be out Keynote speaker. After the days events there will also be optional boat tours. The cost for the forum is $25 per person and the boat tours are an additional $15 per person. Accommodations are available for $125 per night.

Six companies agree to extend help to homeowners on the brink of foreclosure.

Six big mortgage companies want to throw out a lifeline to struggling customers - if they can capture their attention.

With fanfare and the blessings of the Bush administration, the companies launched "Project Lifeline" on Tuesday as a last-ditch effort to communicate with homeowners on the brink of foreclosure.

It's the second major government initiative announced in recent months to help homeowners hold on to their property. In another program announced in December, mortgage companies agreed to offer a five-year interest rate freeze to some borrowers with subprime credit and adjustable-rate loans about to reset.

The new effort targets a much larger group: borrowers with any type of mortgage that is several months' delinquent. While mortgage companies say they already were willing to negotiate with those customers, they have trouble reaching them. Federal housing officials said only about half of the borrowers in the foreclosure process ever have spoken to their lenders. The hope is that Lifeline publicity will prompt borrowers to get in touch.

Here's a look at Project Lifeline.

Which mortgage companies are participating?

Bank of America, Citigroup, Countrywide, JPMorgan Chase, Washington Mutual and Wells Fargo. Together they service about half the mortgages in the country.

Which properties qualify?

Owner-occupied homes, not investor homes. Letters will go out to homeowners who are at least 90 days behind on mortgage payments, but borrowers don't have to wait until they are that far behind to call their mortgage companies and ask for help. To qualify for Lifeline, the property cannot have a foreclosure sale date set within the next 30 days and the homeowner cannot be in bankruptcy.

What kind of help will borrowers get?

That will be determined case by case. In some instances, the company will reduce the monthly payment by lowering the interest rate and lengthening the term of the mortgage. Foreclosure may be postponed a month while a plan is being developed. If a borrower follows the new plan for three consecutive months, the loan will be formally modified. Washington Mutual says its assistance program includes extended forbearance and even partial debt forgiveness.

Whom can I call right now?

Call your mortgage company directly or call the toll-free HOPE Hotline (1-888-995-HOPE) set up by the Homeownership Preservation Foundation. Other mortgage companies also may agree to loan modifications even if they are not part of Project Lifeline.

Feds Unveil Plan to Halt Foreclosures

WASHINGTON (Feb. 12) - Homeowners threatened with foreclosure would in some instances get a 30-day reprieve under a new initiative the Bush administration announced Tuesday.

These lenders say they will contact homeowners who are 90 or more days overdue on their monthly mortgage payments. They will be given the opportunity to put the foreclosure process on pause for 30 days while the lenders try to work out a way to make the mortgage more affordable to the homeowner.

"Project Lifeline is a valuable response, literally a lifeline, for people on the brink of the final steps in foreclosure," Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson, said at a joint news conference with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson .

He said the goal was to provide a temporary pause in the foreclosure process "long enough to find a way out" by allowing homeowners and lenders to negotiate a more affordable mortgage.

Paulson said that the new effort was just one of a number of approaches the administration was pursuing with the mortgage industry to deal with the country's worst housing slump in more than two decades.

In December, President Bush announced a deal brokered with the mortgage industry that will freeze certain subprime loans, those offered to borrowers with weak credit histories, for five years if the borrowers are unable to afford the higher monthly payments as those mortgages reset after being at lower introductory rates.

"As our economy works through this difficult period, we will look for additional opportunities to try to avoid preventable foreclosures," Paulson said. "However, none of these efforts are a silver bullet that will undo the excesses of the past years, nor are they designed to bail out real estate speculators or those who committed fraud during the mortgage process."

Participating lenders are Bank of America Corp., Citigroup Inc., Countrywide Financial Corp., JPMorgan Chase & Co., Washington Mutual Inc. and Wells Fargo & Co.

Suncoast Parkway 2

Suncoast Parkway 2 project is an expansion project in West Florida. The project ties into theexisting Suncoast Parkway 1, which ends in Hernando County and goes through Citrus County to US 19. The total project length is 26 miles and includes interchanges at US 98 in Hernando County, SR 44 and US 19 in Citrus Counties. The typical section for the new alignment will be a four- lane divided roadway.
