WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN THIS SITUATION? - 06/30/09 08:32 AM
Or is there even a question here?
Just closed the book and sighed.  The book that caused this reaction? "HANDLE WITH CARE" by Jodi Picoult. Its a story about a family who's youngest child is born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta otherwise known as OI.
Jodi Picoult is an excellent writer, somehow she bonds you as one with the characters, making you feel their many emotions that take a roller coaster ride.

She has you assume & understand their viewpoints and she puts many questions in your head. http://www.jodipicoult.com/handle-with-care.html
It's ok guys, this is not a chick book.  Its a very revealing novel that you will enjoy.

Can You Believe It? Christmas in June... - 06/29/09 11:49 AM
It was another great weekend.  Little rain on Sunday, but the grass and flowers needed it.  We were up in Orillia, ON on the Saturday to check out the annual Boater's Christmas in June event for 2009.  Imagine, Christmas in June.  Us Canadians have a hard time relating to Christmas without snow.  We know a lot of you would have a hard time believing it also, so here's some proof.

We had to show you that little video, Christmas songs in June, crazy eh?
Check these pics, some of the Captains and their crew went all out decorating their … (8 comments)

We Gave Birth Again After Over 30 Years... - 06/26/09 10:40 AM
Here it is Friday's Foto day again.  Where are the weeks going.  Don't have any fantastic photos today but wanted to show you a new experience we are having.
Some Real Estate trainers say that one of the best ways to build your business is to farm.  So we thought we would try our hand at farming.
Guess it's not the kind of farming that's going to get us any sales...
Seen the Ad on TV? Thought we would give it a try...

Look Who Just Visited Us... - 06/24/09 01:15 PM

We're at the office trying to get some work done, Agents are running around with offers trying to get all the "t's" crossed and the "i's" dotted.  An important class is going on... (look at the poor teacher) shocked... and guess what, none other than Gene Simmons is flying around every which way through the office.

Gene left as quick as he came.  Off to congratulate and present a lucky class with their report cards.

Ed McMahon dies at 86 years old... - 06/23/09 09:07 AM
Good Morning Everyone,
Yesterday we lost an ICON, "Kodachrome Film" today we lost another ICON "Ed McMahon".  We are sure a lot of you will remember the famous introduction "Here'ssssss Johnny" as Ed introduced Johnny Carson for years.  You probably know Ed as the man giving away those poster size checks in the TV commercials.
Ed dies at 86 years old.  Our condolences to the family.

Another ICON bites the dust... - 06/22/09 01:27 PM
Did you hear the news?
After 70+ years Kodak announced today that they were going to stop the production of "Kodachrome" film.  They reported that sales of the film were way off the mark and represented a very small portion of their overall sales.
You know, since we bought our first point and shoot digital camera some years ago, our Nikon F90 which was one of the best when we bought it; is now hidden somewhere in a closet.  Just checked, still got rolls of unused film.  Maybe it will be worth something to a collector 50 years down the road.
Our biggest … (10 comments)

SPECTACULAR AND SPECIAL SUNDAY - 06/22/09 09:21 AM
Yesterday was Father's Day, the first day of summer and a marvelous day!
Mother Nature said YES! It's the first day of summer and she is going to show us what summer is all about.  Yesterday kicked it off with a sun filled 25 degree Celsius day, absolutely perfect and the week is forcasted to be full of sunshine for the next 7 days with temperatures all the way up to 28 degrees Celsius.  Finally!
Wildlife was out in full, frolicking in the sunshine.  We spotted a little brown weasel scampering around, pocking his head out of little holes, jumping in the … (6 comments)

So You Want A Road Trip... How About A Boat Trip? - 06/20/09 08:47 PM
What's on your agenda this summer... if summer ever gets here according to the weather not the calendar.  It's been raining pretty much all day here in Orillia, ON Canada but the weather man is promising a hot sunny day tomorrow, the first official day of summer also known this year as Father's Day.
What we were going to suggest as a day outing this summer, is to make your way to what is known as Lock 44.
Lock 44 is the second last lock in the Trent-Severn Waterway and is almost 233 miles by boat from the City of Trenton.  By … (7 comments)

Is The Grasser Greener On The Other Side of the Fence? - 06/19/09 06:18 AM
We know it is Friday Foto day, but caught this gal out on the side of the road yesterday and wanted to share her with you.  For some reason she didn't want to be with the rest of the herd.  We stopped on the shoulder of the road, got the camera out and she just gave us a big smile and look of "don't bother me"

We were just wondering if this cow was giving us a lesson... "is the grass greener on the other side of the fence" she sure thinks so.
Have A Great Day!

Buying Listings and Abusing Clients. - 06/18/09 08:08 PM
Hi Everyone, we hope you enjoy this post by Terry Chenier as much as we did.  It is a topic near and dear to us.  Terry said it all so eloquently that the only thing we could possibly add, is that if the property ever does sell, it is usually at the price we recommended in the first place! Enjoy Terry's graphics as well!

Isn't It Nice When People Say THANKS, Do you Agree? - 06/16/09 12:52 PM
Being a Real Estate Agent comes with many hats.  It's not just filling in some paper work, banging a "for sale" sign in the ground and sitting back waiting for a little bird to drop you an offer from the skies.
Nowadays Agents have to be ad writers, photographers, sign installers, stagers, appraisers, finance advisers, babysitters, physiologists, negotiators, chauffeurs and heaven knows many other things we can't think of right now.  Yes we can get help from people who specialize in individual parts of the home selling process... but for a fee.
I guess what we were getting at, is the average "Joe Public" … (6 comments)

IT WAS A BUSY DAY IN ORILLIA SATURDAY! - 06/14/09 10:46 AM
Beautiful and quaint City of Orillia nicknamed the Sunshine City is 125 km from downtown Toronto.  It is bordered by picturesque Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching and is a couple of miles from the Casino Rama.
Saturday June 13th was a busy day for this City of 30,000+. First there was the launching of the Firefighters Relief Poker Run.  Early bird registration cost $375.00 and then registration was $475.00.  These cigar/cigarette (gas guzzling) boats now were set to run at 55 mph as opposed to the 90 -150 mph they used to run at in past years.  This was a great charity event! http://www.performanceboatclub.ca/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=57&Itemid=1

How To Save A Few Hundred Dollars Each Month... - 06/14/09 08:12 AM
Wanted to share some information with you that could help the debt load of some of your clients.  We were invited to meeting of our peers in our RE/MAX club level.  About 300 were in attendance.  It's always a place of ideas from the best of the best.
Walter J. Schneider co-owner of RE/MAX Ontario-Atlantic Canada Inc. was the keynote speaker and brought up a very interesting fact with regards to storage units.
He said that there are in access of 60,000 storage centres in North America.  That's centres not units.  He has a friend that owns about 15,000 units.  Theses … (12 comments)

How Much Is That Gas... Us Canadians Pay By The Litre - 06/13/09 10:19 AM
When you listen to the news each day and hear how much a barrel of oil is, it makes you wonder what the price they charge us at the pumps has anything to do with the barrel cost.
Up our way, weathers getting warmer, nice time to take a drive... oh goodness, look at that 99.5 cents a litre, up from 94.7 cents yesterday.  Guess they didn't pump enough barrels yesterday.
Our energy stocks took a big hit and they are not climbing like the prices at the pumps.  It's fixed... we don't care what they are telling us.
Oh well, … (10 comments)

Would You Buy One Of These Expensive Dogs? In The Market... MUST READ! - 06/13/09 09:48 AM
A couple of years ago we never even heard of the Portuguese Water Dog until we met our new neighbours next to our cottage who had just moved in.  No little kids could be seen but suddenly a bouncing ball of wool came bounding over to meet us.  This was our first time seeing a Portuguese Water Dog (Isabella, Bella for short).
If you want to know all the technical stuff about the breed you can check with wikipedia or read on.  Bella is one of the smartest dogs we know.  We could be just arriving at the cottage, haven't even emptied our … (12 comments)

LESSONS TO BE LEARNED FROM A MOVIE - 06/06/09 07:55 AM

Last night we finally got around to watching a 2007 movie, I AM LEGEND starring Wil Smith and a beautiful German Sheppard.  Guess it took us so long to watch it was because the trailor did not really do a whole lot for us and so others movies were chosen first.  http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809768369/video Maybe it appeals to others but it wasn't our first choice.
Although it probably never won any awards, Wil Smith's acting is incredible.  Where does he dig up all that emotion!  Anyway it turns out the movie was pretty good and at the end, there is a very, very good lesson … (13 comments)

WHAT IS THIS? - 06/05/09 10:21 AM
Every picture has a story, this one certainly does... do you know what this is?   Look closely, do you see it.  It's like looking at the clouds and seeing different shapes.  Let your imagination wander.

Check back later and we will tell you. What will your story be? Have a great Friday Foto day!

FIX IT IN A SNAP - 06/05/09 08:47 AM
THINK YOU'RE A BIG SHOT? Or A SHORT SPROUT?
Did you do something really fantastic and now in your mind are you just so cool? Are you thinking you are so hot you say "don't touch this"? Does your head still fit through the door? Or............Are you so mad, steam is coming out of your nostrils and starting fires everywhere? Did someone put you down or hurt your feelings and now you are so upset its ruining your day?
Here's a cure when this happens to you; remember this little trick.
It's called the Five Step Rule.  Take 5 long strides … (4 comments)

HAPPENS EVERY DAY! - 06/01/09 08:31 AM
Do you enjoy reading, really getting engrossed in the story line and the characters?  Here is a suggestion for you.  Just finished reading Happens Every Day last night. Its a short read, but very powerful. Actually I found it very heart wrenching.  It grabs you right away and you don't want to put the book down.
Maybe it was engrossing because as the author states "it is an all too true story", maybe it was because it was written by Isabel Gillies.  You may recognize that name.  She is the lovely lady who played Detective Stabler's wife on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.  Isabel does … (9 comments)
