I'm shocked that not a single agent advised this seller who was having trouble selling to consult with a stager! Presentation and price are always both critical to selling, and there is no reason to ignore presentation. Perhaps agents are "afraid" to mention staging to sellers because of the extra small cost (as low as $150 for a consult), but it's part of their job to let sellers know that they have other options besides just reducing the price, or offering a home warranty, or == ?? -- a free Ipad! (REALLY?)

Should you sell or should you stay in Bergen County? - 06/01/11 05:54 PM
If you are a seller who really wants to move on, set your price to fit the current market, which unfortunately is down from 5 years ago (ask your agent by how much!) I am not an agent, but I always tell sellers that BOTH presentation and price are crucial to selling their home quickly and without price reductions. I never discuss or suggest prices, because that is the agent's territory, but I often ask "what does your agent think about your price?" I advise sellers that if they don't want to waste money and time on staging, maintenance, taxes, etc., … (0 comments)
